The music industry is filled with inspiring stories of artists who have overcome adversity to achieve greatness, and Da Gutta Soul’s journey is no exception. Born and raised in Barstow, California, Da Gutta Soul began his music career in 2004. However, it wasn’t until he served a 10-year sentence in prison for assault and attempted murder that he began to take his craft seriously.
During his time in prison, Da Gutta Soul formed a brotherhood called Paid Killa Entertainment, which helped him develop his skills as a rapper. Since his release in 2014, he has been pursuing music with the same people he started with in prison. Drawing inspiration from his team, the Killaz RiskTakerZ, Lil Wayne, and Jay-Z, Da Gutta Soul’s music is all about perseverance and turning a negative situation into a positive one.
The most challenging thing Da Gutta Soul has overcome in his life was losing both his parents at a young age. Despite this tragedy, he has managed to maintain a positive outlook on life and channel his energy into his music. His purpose for pursuing music is to inspire others to believe that they can make it, no matter where they come from.
Da Gutta Soul’s music is unique in that it features a clean sound that doesn’t use any cursing or the N-word. He writes and records his music at his home studio, and then re-records in a big studio with his collaborator, Sav Did It. His writing process involves putting a beat on, feeling the vibe, flipping through one of his many old prison books, and catching a flow to the beat.
Despite the challenges he has faced in his life, Da Gutta Soul has managed to turn his struggles into success. His music is a testament to the power of perseverance and the belief that anything is possible if you put your mind to it. As he continues to make music and inspire others, we can’t wait to see what the future holds for this talented artist.
