A lot of pop culture pundits long ago gave up on seeing worldwide sensation Kim Kardashian as anything other than one of the stars of Keeping Up With the Kardashians or the former Better-Half to rapper Kanye West. It’s easy to understand why in many regards, as faulty as the respective logic may have been. After all, she’s spent more time seemingly cultivating a celebrity public persona than she ever has as an actress or a runway model or a philanthropist. Kardashian is that more and more common bird known as the person better known for her private life than she is for any sort of artistic undertaking. With any luck, all of that is about to change if the creative gremlins behind the long-running series American Horror Story have their druthers.
From our “Everything old is new again” muchachos over at Variety comes the intriguing news that none other than Kim Kardashian will be featured prominently on the upcoming twelfth season of the popular series American Horror Story; move aside Cate Blanchett!
A teaser video was posted by Kim Kardashian on Instagram today announcing that she was preparing to enter the dark and wonky world of the ever-popular Ryan Murphy horror series American Horror Story. In the spirit of the series proper, Kardashian buffered the video with some mighty creepy music and two emojis prominently featuring an eyeball (BRRR!) and blood drops. The subtitle of the new season of AHS is Delicate. Curious yet? So are we, Dear and Constant Reader!
Kardashian’s co-star – and AHS alum – Emma Roberts got in on the announcement fun by posting her response to the news with this simple caption: “This summer…Kim and I are DELICATE.”
As is probably befitting a series which plies its wares in ambiguity and secrets, no further information has leaked about who or what precisely Kardashian will be playing in the upcoming season of the FX favorite.
Though a mainstay in the ever-fickle world of pop culture (anyone else recall Paris Hilton at this late date?) for the last decade-and-a-half, Kardashian rarely ventures into the wilds of acting. A string of credits for voice acting lines her resume, as do blink-and-you’ll-miss-her turns in popular shows such as 2 Broke Girls and 30 Rock. But outside of anomalies like Ocean’s 8 and CSI: NY, she is as yet quite removed from any regular acting work. Hey, if Lady Gaga can make a splash on the acting scene, why not Kim?
