I host bar trivia. One of the type of games I host is in the vein of Family Feud. Recently, I asked the question, “What musical would be best if remade by the Muppets.” The top vote getter was Hamilton, because people have heard of Hamilton. My initial answer was Jesus Christ Superstar. Then, I thought of Grease, and one team said Grease. That got me thinking about casting Grease with Muppets.
Obviously, Kermit is Danny and Miss Piggy is Sandy. The tricky thing with the Muppets is the significant tilt toward male characters. Camilla is going to be Jan of the Pink Ladies, because then Gonzo can be the T-Bird who kind of flirts with her. Fozzie is Eddie Deezen, obviously. There are three more key characters that need to get cast: Kenickie, Rizzo, and Frenchy.
Funnily enough, Rizzo the Rat is a Muppet, but he actually makes a perfect Kenickie. So who plays Rizzo and Frenchy? One of them will be Janice. I see her as more of a Rizzo. I don’t see “Beauty School Dropout” being sung to Janice. I do see Dr. Teeth in the Frankie Avalon role, though! Ah, maybe Yolanda the rat is Frenchy? Yeah, that I can see.
