INTERVIEW: Little Archer Worship

1.) We’re super-excited to be speaking today with acclaimed Christian songwriter and composer Little Archer Worship; greetings and salutations and welcome to Vents! Before we meander down the proverbial pathway, how is your New Year treating you thus far?

Thank you, I’m very honoured to have the opportunity to share my journey with you.  I’m very sad to say that I lost my mum a couple of weeks ago.  She was an absolute anchor and inspiration; needless to say I’m devastated and trying to make sense of everything.

2.) Congratulations on the recent release of your latest single Until You Break the Storm! What was the genesis of this little gem, how did it come into being?

Thank you, that’s very kind.  Until You break the storm is my second release and with this song the intention was to express the dynamics behind personal pain and the way we deal with it on a spiritual level; the message is that we are not alone, that we are immensely loved in spite of feeling hopeless with no future to look forward to.

3.) In your opinion, what differentiates Until You Break the Storm from anything else on the current-day music scene?

This is only my opinion of course!  I think every artist brings something different, but a lot of times there are similarities.  With this song the core message is that we all go through similar experiences and can therefore show empathy and compassion when we see others go through the same pain or heartache that we do.  For me the song speaks directly to the soul.

4.) Can you introduce our readers to some of the other talented musicians that lent their musical alchemy to help create Until You Break the Storm?

As you already know, I can’t read sheet music and only play by ear, so when I compose, I don’t think of other musicians, I listen to what is inside of me and then express those emotions through the music.  I do love composers like Hans Zimmer, so I would say a cinematic influence is part of what I create, but I also like the music of Enya for instance.

5.) Who was your producer on Until You Break the Storm and what did the collaboration between artist and producer look like in the studio?

My producer is Sam Hart who is a full-time Worship/Christian Music Producer and Songwriter who toured with globally recognized award-winning Christian bands.  Sam has a fantastic “feel” for the sound I aim to create.  This was our second collaboration and the process was extremely fluid.  Although he is based in the USA and I reside in the UK, the distance had no negative impact on the end result and the vision I wanted to achieve.

6.) How is Until You Break the Storm similar to some of your past music? How is it different?

In terms of similarity, both songs are styled cinematically; ‘Holy Mountain’ tells a story about searching and finding God and ‘Until You break the storm’ is a strong focus on individual emotion, so it was important that the music compliment the lyrics.  Beginning as a soft ballad and then powerfully progressing into a story that all can relate to.

7.) What do you hope listeners walk away with after giving Until You Break the Storm copious spins on their turn-tables?

My hope is that the song will speak to the listener’s heart, that they realise they can relate to it and know that there is always hope – that we can find comfort by reaching out to God.

8.) On the heels of the release of the new single, can fans look forward to an LP release from you in 2023?

Absolutely! I need to fulfil a promise I made, so it’s definitely the intention.

9.) Touring-wise, are you pretty booked up in the coming weeks and months?

No touring for me J

10.) What appeals and/or speaks to you about the Christian genre of music?

Songs that speak to the heart and bring me closer to God.

11.) As a songwriter and composer, which comes first for you – The lyrics or the music?

I can’t favour one over the other, they need to complement each other like two rivers flowing into one.

12.) Who inspires you musically?

My mother has been my inspiration musically and ‘Until You break the storm’ has been written for her.

13.) Any final thoughts that you might like to share with our readers regarding Until You break the storm?

My sincerest wish is that whoever listens to the song, will find comfort and the hope they are looking for and I would like to thank everyone for listening.  God bless.
