Ranking Every Episode Of Season 2 Of ‘The Adventures Of Pete & Pete’

The first season of The Adventures of Pete & Pete, plus the specials, indicated that it would be better than most children’s programming, and fresher and more original as well. There’s a reason why it is the gem of ‘90s Nickelodeon. Season two was 13 episodes, but it also already was changing things around. Namely, Nona F. Mecklenberg was added to the show to give Little Pete another regular friend of his own, his own Ellen, in a way. What would that mean for the second season in total? Let’s find out. Here is my ranking of every episode of season two of Pete & Pete.

13. “Inspector 34”

12. “On Golden Pete”

11. “The Big Quiet”

10. “Field of Pete”

9. “The Call”

8. “Grounded for Life”

7. “X=Why?”

6. “Sick Day”

5. “Farewell, My Little Viking Part 1”

4. “Farewell, My Little Viking Part 2”

3. “Halloweenie”

2. “Yellow Fever”

1. “Time Tunnel”

Reflecting as an adult, it feels so strange to me that the “Farewell, My Little Viking” two-parter, which says goodbye to Artie, the Strongest Man in the World, happens after only 22 episodes of the show ran. Yes, Artie was only around for 22 episodes, including the specials. Fortunately, Artie was seen off quite well, as that two parter is quite good, and genuinely a little moving.

That being said, this is a somewhat uneven season. The top five are strong episodes, all really good. The bottom three or four, though, are middling at best. They aren’t ones I have any enthusiasm to watch again. Would I call the second season better than the first? Maybe…but also maybe not? Do I prefer a season of highs and lows, or a season of overarching pretty good TV? All I know is that they are both better than the third and final season, which I will get to next time.
