Official Trailer for Upcoming Kevin Williamson-Written Pandemic-Inspired Horror Movie “Sick” Premieres

Writer Kevin Williamson and I go way back – at least as far as a reasonably healthy fan of his work admiring it from afar goes (no restraining orders ‘round these parts, Ladies and Gents). Shortly after the surprising success of 1996’s Scream which he conceived of and wrote, my work buddies and I would convene at a designated party pad one time a week, tap a keg of beer and proceed to do the least manly thing you could ever think of: Sit around a cramped living room chugging beers and shedding copious tears as we watched the latest episode of Dawson’s Creek. What can I say? We were nerds of the highest order and we wore our membership bands loud and proud. That love of Williamson’s words on The Creek (as my friends and I referred to it as) translated to the big screen, too, with the aforementioned Scream flicks (though after Scream 2 I bowed out when discovering the New Bern, North Carolina native would not be writing the third chapter in Wes Craven’s seminal horror series), as well as such fun projects as I Know What You Did Last Summer and his uncredited script polish on Halloween: H20. So yeah, you could say Williamson and I go way back and I’ve stuck with his efforts through thick and through thin. Looks like fans of the 57-year old writing master are in for more thick, according to our compatriots over at The Hollywood Reporter

The official trailer dropped today for Kevin Williamson’s latest movie Sick (you can check that trailer out right here, Dear and Constant Reader) which is set to premiere on streaming behemoth Peacock this January 13.

What makes Sick so intriguing-sounding is the premise, which should be familiar to anyone occupying Terra Firma the last three years or so. According to the handy-dandy logline for the film: “As the pandemic steadily brings the world to a halt, Parker and her best friend Miri decide to quarantine at the family lake house alone—or so they think.”

Already being called the strongest film thus far released which tackles the ever-controversial era of COVID-19, Sick is a horror movie which feels like it makes sense. Who didn’t at times feel as if they were living a Twilight Zone episode during the height of the pandemic? Throw in the face masks and you instantly graduate from a simple horror movie to an outright slasher flick; eat your heart out Sean Cunningham.

Keep your eyes out for Kevin Williamson’s Sick (directed by Alone’s John Hyams, by the by) only on Peacock this January 13!
