2300CJ, who’s real name is Chad Purvis, is a rising DMV rap star known for his different flow & style. Growing up CJ was in and out of jail a lot when he was younger. Even though he started making music at the age of 12 years old he didn’t start recording in an actual studio until he was 20 years old. The “2300” in his name signifies the town he was raised on Pitts place and Bangor street, Better known as the 2300 block or George Carver apartments. “Coming up I tried combining sports with streets but always ended up heavy on the the street side. I made time for sports so my athletic talent never went away. I was raised by both my grandmas, my mom and father. I have 8 siblings, 4 brothers and 4 sisters. What really motivated me take this music serious was when people constantly told me I had a talent with it. I used to record on the phone and show people and they would tell me I had a gift. They always told me I should take music serious and thats what drove me. With all the constant support and positivity year after year I kept progressing. All I want out of this is to make enough so my loved ones never have to work & my work ethic and grind shows that ima get there” says CJ. He is known for having a different flow and style than most artists in his city. Washington, DC’s 2300 CJ is very talented rapper whose storytelling lyrics come in many different forms.
Fairly new to the rap game, CJ’s journey is far from complete. He has what it takes to succeed and mark my words, he will be a household name in no time.
The urgency of his music is evident; he doesn’t miss a beat, and every second is valuable. If you look at most of his top songs, you’ll find that most don’t have features, which is quite rare. It portrays that he doesn’t have to rely on anyone.
