Quickfire Christmas Movie Reviews Part 2: Turtle Doves Edition

Previously, I did quick-fire reviews of the 10 highest-grossing Christmas films of all time. Why not dig a little deeper? What about the films a little further down the list? This time, I am going to do some succinct reviews of the movies that rank 11th through 20th on that list. Sure, they didn’t make quite as much money, but maybe there is more quality here. Or maybe not. The top 10 was kind of iffy in terms of quality. The Polar Express and How the Grinch Stole Christmas are on there, after all. Here are a few words on all the films that rank 20th through 11th, starting at the bottom of that and moving up.

The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause: Martin Short plays Jack Frost, so that’s cool. It helped make the third film in the series have a little more verve to it.

Office Christmas Party: A recent, forgettable attempt at a raunchy Christmas movie. Clearly, it made a lot of money, but there are better R-rated Christmas comedies out there.

Last Christmas: This movie has a truly wild twist. Beyond that, there’s nothing to really recommend about it, and twists can be looked up on Wikipedia for the those so inclined.

Jingle All the Way: Arnold Schwarzenegger! Sinbad! A huge hit comedy from the 1990s, but the movie is not good. Comedy and Schwarzenegger never really meshed well.

A Bad Moms Christmas: I’ve never understood the appeal of the Bad Moms cinematic universe. Why would I want to watch them do Christmas stuff?

Arthur Christmas: I refuse to believe anybody has ever seen this movie. It’s psy-ops designed to unmoor the national psyche.

Four Christmases: If you put Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon in a movie in 2008, it was going to make a ton of money. Case in point, this film.

The Santa Clause 2: This movie doesn’t have Martin Short as Jack Frost, so who cares?

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms: It could have used another realm. Or maybe one fewer realm. All I know is that it was a misfire.

Daddy’s Home 2: This movie is from 2017 and costars Mel Gibson. Pass.
