I could feel the summer heat radiating from the sunny blue sky, so it was my dream to someday have a backyard shaded by an aluminum awning. I imagined the bright sun being reflected away and only gentle shadows would be cast in our yard. It felt like such a luxury to me; especially living here in Tucson, Arizona where summer temperatures soar so high! Eventually, that dream came true when we finally purchased and installed the aluminum awning over our patio.
As I sit in the shade, I wrote this song about how happy I am sitting in the cool shade. It’s a reminder of just how grateful I am to have access to such a wonderful place. Not only is it peaceful and calming, but it also provides protection from the hot sun.
I wanted my song to express that feeling of comfort and joy with its uplifting melody and hopeful lyrics. Every time I hear it, I’m reminded of the beauty of nature and the power of music to make us smile. Even during difficult times, listening to this simple tune brings me back into harmony with myself and my surroundings.
In writing this song, my goal was for others to share in these feelings as well; that by taking a moment out of their day they too can find solace in nature.

My mind races ’bout all I could do here in the shade
An aluminum awning casts a spell sweet relief this way

We’ll host cookouts and parties, gathering beneath the trees.
