Hollywood voice-over actress Alicyn Packard is heading into the gaming world as the voice of Roze in the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II multiplayer game. Recently, we interviewed this busy actress about her role in Call of Duty as well as what projects she has coming up.

1. Tell us about Call of Duty. Who do you play in the game?

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, is a first person shooter game developed by Infinite Ward and published by Activision. It’s the most recent release in the Call of Duty franchise and the fastest selling COD game of all time. I’m the voice actress for Roze, one of the operators in the multiplayer game.

2. Tell us about the character of Roze.

Roze is a total badass. I have fans from all over the world telling me that Roze is their main (AKA the character they play as) and quoting lines from the game. I’m in awe of the women and men who have served our country in the military and so voicing Roze was an honor I do not take for granted.

3. What is it like being in one of the biggest multiplayer games around?

It’s been a thrill! I’m loving connecting with fans online and I hope more people reach out and let me know how Roze has affected their lives.

4. How is voicing a character in a game different from voicing a movie or tv character?

I would stay stylistically it’s less about whether it’s a TV show or game and more about the tone of the show. A comedy is going to be different than a gritty drama and something that falls into the fantasy category has a different feel to it as well. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II called for a very cinematic read but something like Rugrats is a broader comedy. I honestly love the variety that my job offers. It makes work constantly engaging.

5. What was the recording process like?

I recorded at Warner Brothers studios over the course of several months. It was me and an engineer in the studio and the rest of the team on Zoom. I worked one on one with the directors to get the performance that you hear today. Instead of a traditional microphone, I wore a cap with two stereo mics mounted to my head. This allowed me to move freely around the studio and physicalize the acting.

6. Did you also play the character gamers see on the screen or was it just the voice?

I did the voice acting only for Roze.

7. What are your upcoming projects?

In addition to voicing Roze, I also voiced Neon Red in the indie smash hit, Neon White for Nintendo and Steam.(I guess we know my signature color now?)A lot of people called it their game of the year, so that’s exciting!

I was in the newly released World of Warcraft: Dragonflight as Dracthyr Mender and you can hear me as Josh on season two of Rugrats for Nickelodeon. In 2023 I’ll be recurring on TBS’ Stupid Pet Tricks starring Sarah Silverman. It’s based on the original comedy segment by David Letterman.
