3 Important Things You Need to Know Before Spending Winter Holiday in Dubai

It’s pretty much common knowledge that visiting Dubai in the winter is preferable due to a number of factors. Here are some things you can expect when visiting Dubai in the winter.

Near perfect weather

Beginning from November to mid-March, the so-called winter months finally grant Dubai and its residents respite from the seemingly unrelenting desert heat.

In November and December, temperatures typically hover between 12 – 25 degrees Celsius with the evenings becoming noticeably cooler. The winter months may also experience spells of patchy drizzle and the occasional thunderstorms but not anything to hinder movements or planned events. Without a doubt, the winter months are the best time to visit Dubai.

Spikes in hotel rates and crowds

While there’s no shortage of reasons to visit Dubai in the winter months, the influx of travellers lured by early, cheap flights promoted months ahead means that you need to take into consideration the fact that hotel rates will spike and Dubai becoming more crowded.

The occupancy rate of Dubai hotels and holiday homes will most certainly rise during the winter months which means that room rates will become more expensive. Industry experts have observed an upswing of 20 percent in hotel rates for the high season due to the high demand.

Seasonal winter events

During the winter months, Dubai comes alive with loads of events that are worth checking out.

The National Day of the UAE is commemorated on 2 December which typically means a long weekend for Emiratis.

Your favorite celebrities will descend upon Dubai in the month of December to attend the Dubai International Film Festival in support of the premier showcase event for Arab cinema.

Perhaps the biggest and most anticipated Dubai winter event is the great Dubai Shopping Festival; hands down the best time of the year to get your hands on exclusive goods at the lowest possible prices. The shopper’s dream realized, the splurging festival involves out-of-this-world sales, discounts and prizes and has attracted millions of tourists to Dubai each and every year. This year, the mega event is slated to be held from 15 December 2022 to 29 January 2023.

All in all, the winter months allow for a very compelling case for a visit to Dubai and we do recommend finalizing your Dubai travel plans. However, the high season means that the amassing of crowds in key attractions or events will become inevitable. In such scenarios, take care to properly abide by the prevailing safety protocols and regulations to keep yourself and others safe.
