You can only control so much, and I plan on focusing on what’s in my control – and that is my happiness.”
For many, the best part of being a star and working in the showbiz industry is the attention, glitz and glamor, as well as the fame they receive, but Brandon thinks otherwise. “I believe the most appealing part of being an actor is the ability to live many different lives daily. One day you are a cowboy, the next day, you play a lawyer, and it just goes on and on,” reveals the talented actor.
Besides acting, the Big Time Adolescence actor is highly passionate about boxing. “I competed all over the nation as a fighter. I am a 2014 Blue & Gold heavyweight Gold medalist and 2014 Golden Gloves heavyweight Silver medalist,” he shares with pride. However, according to Brandon Carrillo, walking in an actor’s or athlete’s shoes is not easy. “It’s a constant back-and-forth journey. I enjoy it because I love what I do. Even then, it’s not like everything is in my control.” Recalling one of the toughest times of his showbiz career, he says, “One of my biggest heartaches was when I had signed up for the lead role in a biopic. The story was about a fighter I admired a ton growing up. Unfortunately, only a week before the filming was scheduled to start, COVID-19 hit, and the production came to a halt.”
Even though Brandon was a little disappointed, he didn’t lose hope and kept moving forward. The fact is that one needs nerves of steel to ignore the roadblocks and consider them integral parts of the journey toward achieving your goal. “What keeps me going is my love for the craft. At the end of the day, it will always be fun for me to pick up a scene and let it ride. I believe I am exactly where I should be. The universe doesn’t make mistakes,” he elaborates.
