The lightsaber was the primary weapon of the Jedi, and Anakin’s masters, including Obi-Wan Kenobi, were constantly harping on the fact that he kept losing his. Though a Jedi’s lightsaber may be unique, that doesn’t mean mishaps can’t occur. For instance, Jedi often made new sabers after an old one was broken or lost. From time to time, they would do so with a brand new hilt, as in Obi-case, Wan’s, or with a nearly identical replica of the original, as in Anakin’s case. However, Anakin’s first lightsaber was a constant victim of his careless youth and was eventually destroyed.
What Was Anakin Skywalker’s Lightsaber And What Happened To It?
Throughout the Clone Wars, Anakin Skywalker used this blue-bladed Jedi weapon. Obi-Wan Kenobi kept Anakin Skywalker’s lightsaber on Tatooine for nearly two decades after their duel on Mustafar. After giving it to Luke Skywalker, he watched as Darth Vader severed his son’s hand in Cloud City.
The lightsaber was later added to Maz Kanata’s collection of Jedi artifacts, where it eventually caught the attention of the scavenger Rey. She used it in her victory over Kylo Ren and then returned it to Luke on Ahch-To. Upon his refusal, Rey took up the ancient weapon on her own. After the lightsaber was damaged during the struggle between Rey and Kylo on the Supremacy, Rey reforged it as part of her Jedi training.

Fall Of The Republic
Anakin Skywalker rebuilt his lightsaber after losing his Geonosis and used it throughout the Clone Wars. After being corrupted by the Force and becoming Darth Vader, he never stopped using it. Obi-Wan Kenobi brought Anakin’s lightsaber to Tatooine with him after his defeat of Vader in a duel on Mustafar.
Galactic Civil War
Luke, Anakin’s son, was given a lightsaber by Obi-Wan, and he used it to initiate his training as a Jedi. Obi-Wan concealed the tragic news that his father had transformed into Darth Vader from Luke. Luke wielded his father’s lightsaber during their confrontation on Cloud City, but the Sith lord severed his hand, rendering the weapon useless.
The First Order
Once in Maz Kanata’s hands, the lightsaber once belonging to Luke Skywalker became a beacon for the scavenger Rey. In the beginning, she ignored this strange call, but later she used the Jedi weapon on Starkiller Base and during her training on Ahch-To. After the lightsaber was broken during her fight with Kylo Ren, Rey fixed it and used it during the climactic showdown with the revived Emperor Palpatine.
Anakin Skywalker’s Second Lightsaber
Anakin Skywalker, a Jedi Knight, built and used his second lightsaber. It was constructed to replace Anakin’s original lightsaber, and its creator kept it with him through the Clone Wars and after Anakin betrayed the Jedi Order and joined the Sith under Darth Sidious.
