Harshita Yadav: Creative Fashionista in Modernisation of Indian Craft through Modern Wear from Indian Textiles

Fashion design is the art of applying design, aesthetics, clothing construction and natural beauty to clothing and its accessories. It is influenced by culture and different trends, and has varied over time and place. “A fashion designer creates clothing, including dresses, suits, pants, and skirts, and accessories like shoes and handbags, for consumers. He or she can specialize in clothing, accessory, or jewelry design, or may work in more than one of these areas.” Fashion designers work in a variety of different ways when designing their pieces and accessories such as rings, bracelets, necklaces and earrings. Due to the time required to put a garment out in market, designers must anticipate changes to consumer desires. Fashion designers are responsible for creating looks for individual garments, involving shape, color, fabric, trimming, and more.

So here we’ll discuss about this extraordinary girl- Harshita and her start-up at a young age- ‘Gathbandhan by Harshita’.

Harshita Yadav was born in Gurugram on 20th November 1997 and is an Indian fashion designer who is going to operate her studio in sector 21, Gurugram. She has modernised Indian craft through her collections featuring the usage of zardosi, dhoti-pants, shararas, and lehengas. Her collections can be termed as decorously Indian but Goth, Punk and Bohemian at the same time.  She has been instrumental towards the modernisation of Indian craft through her modern wear made from Indian textiles. Her take on Indian clothing incorporates style influences from all over the world. Her designs have brought about a whole new wave of modern Indian style. We are very excited to see Harshita’s Ready to Wear line online and offline for the first time ever.

She conducted researchs on fashion trends and interpret them for her audience. This is the essence of a designer’s role she has, however, there is variation within this that is determined by the buying and merchandising approach. And all this is perfectly balanced by Harshita.

She has been listed in the Business of Fashion elite list of 500 people in the city of Gurugram. She also participated in ‘MISS India Ki Shaan 2019’ and got the first runner-up award. Working as an volunteer and contributing her fabulous designs in Delhi Times Fashion Week is one of the achievements she has.

Her attempt as a designer to design clothes which are functional as well as aesthetically pleasing has always been successful. She considers who is likely to wear a garment and the situations in which it will be worn, and she works within a wide range of materials, colors, patterns and styles. Though most clothing worn for everyday wear falls within a narrow range of conventional styles, unusual garments are usually sought for special occasions such as evening wear or party dresses. Though, her unique designs will fit the trends anyways.

Her designs are going to cause you crave and craze for Indian ethnic wear!
