Stop the Presses, Fright Fans: Tobin Bell Set to Reprise Role in New “Saw” Film

In all of the annals of horror movie monsters and the creepy-crawlies things that go bump in the night, there are but a few actors who automatically come to mind when we think of long-running franchises, and generally for good reason: Other than the die-hard horror afficionadoes who make a point of keeping tabs on the various and sundry folks who slip on an anonymous rubber monster costume, most general fans of scary flicks don’t know –nor do they really care – about the difference between George Wilbur and Nick Castle (hint: both gentleman portrayed masked killer Michael Myers in the Halloween series of films). The disturbing monsters who haunt the local drive-ins and movie houses are typically hidden beneath masks and/or prosthetics, all but making them nigh unidentifiable and its the rare breed – Boris Karloff, Lon Chaney, Jr., Robert Englund – that ever achieve more mainstream acknowledgment and respect. To the above holy trinity of horror names would your fearless and intrepid yellow journalist add the person of one Mr. Tobin Bell, who all but personified the sadistic cat-and-mouse killer in the widely popular Saw films. Bell added much to the horror proceedings in that long-running franchise and – let’s face it (waka-waka): To many folks, Tobin Bell is Saw. All of that said and now out of the way, we’re happy to bring you the news – courtesy of our Kane Hodder admirers over at The Hollywood Reporter – that Bell is making a triumphant return in the upcoming new Saw flick; let the games begin!

Dreaded Jigsaw murderer John Kramer, via the devices of thespian Tobin Bell, is set for a return engagement of sadistic games in Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures upcoming new chapter in the Saw franchise it was announced today.

 Directing this new blood-soaked chapter in the Saw saga and welcoming Bell back to the fold will be Kevin Greutert.

 In a press release announcing the new Saw film and Bell’s return, franchise producers Oren Koules and Mark Burg said, “What a thrill to be reuniting with Tobin. His performance as John Kramer is part of the magic that made this franchise a phenomenon and his character is an active part of this film.”

So grab the popcorn and a handy-dandy significant other to hold onto tightly as the latest Saw movie featuring a welcome Tobin Bell turn as John Kramer heads to movie screens on October 27, 2023!
