The Asian World Film Festival Kickoff was held at Fifty One Chinese Kitchen located in a ritzy area of Culver City located in Los Angeles. According to their website “The Asian World Film Festival (AWFF) brings the best of a broad selection of Asian World cinema to Los Angeles in order to draw greater recognition to the region’s wealth of filmmakers, strengthening ties between the Asian and Hollywood film industries. The AWFF screens Oscar and Golden Globe submitted films from Asia for the Best Foreign Language Film. Its many celebrity partners and board members include Angelina Jolie, Awkwafina, Chloe Zhao, Lucy Liu, and Shannon Lee (Bruce Lee’s daughter). AWFF Executive & Program Director is Georges N. Chamchoum who is an Emmy and multiple award-winning film director & producer.
In attendance were stars, politicians, and media from across the spectrum. On the red carpet were notable figures such as C-Tru. C-Tru is an award winning Filipino-American artist who has collaborated with global superstar Snoop Dogg and rap legend DMX on hugely successful music projects. Along with many highly acclaimed entertainment luminaries, C-Tru was selected to be part of the film festival jury. He was joined by director Nate Calima and Desmond Chaim who is known for his incredible role as “Dovich” on Marvel’s “Falcon and the Winter Soldier.” Other notable figures included Mayor Dr. Daniel Lee of Culver City. Respected Artist and Philanthropist Sir Daniel K. Winn of Winn-Salvin Fine Art on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, Top Philippine songwriter Edmund Perlas, and GMA-7 Hollywood Correspondent Janet Nepales.
Asian World Film Festival will be held from November 9 – 19, 2022 in Marina Del Rey, Culver City, Los Angeles.
