Fast-rising pop phenomenon Bronze Avery has released his new single “OVER (AND OVER)” from his upcoming debut album SOFTMETAL – out November 17. CLICK HERE to listen to “OVER (AND OVER),” a danceable, introspective pop bop about a cyclical relationship that never seems to end that takes on a softer, more wistful tone to the steelier songs on SOFTMETAL.
“‘OVER (AND OVER)’ is my favorite and represents the softer side of SOFTMETAL. The title is a play on words, even down to the parentheses,” shares Bronze on the song. “Sonically, I’ve been trying to make a song like this for years. It balances jazzy chords, an original piano line, and house drums, but it’s relaxing, emotional, and is yearning for any ounce of hope in something that seems lost. The lines ‘We share the same time but we still leave with two different stories // I can’t erase it but trying to face historical discrepancy’ perfectly describes the ethos of the album. Songwriting is powerful because it can directly place the user right into the perspective of the writer, but I also think it makes it dangerous because you only get to experience one side of the story. I’m aware that the person on the other end of the song doesn’t always get a fair chance to express their side, and SOFTMETAL is ultimately an album where I’m trying to find the truth in between two minds that can’t be trusted.”
“OVER (AND OVER)” follows the recent release of “SAY GOODNIGHT,” an instant vibey pop classic that mixes extreme infatuation with eternal dissatisfaction to take a shot at Bronze’s own faults when it comes to love, and breezy lead single “FIGURE IT OUT” which rejects the emotional labor of toxic push-pull relationship dynamics and embraces the freedom of no longer being burdened by something that diminishes your self-worth.
Writing and producing much of it by himself to ensure it is unmistakably his own, Bronze’s upcoming debut album SOFTMETAL is a story of the realities of modern romance and finding your feet on a sometimes-rocky path to love undercut by dueling emotions of anger and longing. Blending pop with influences of guitar-driven indie rock, hip hop, garage, and R&B to capture a newfound level of honesty, SOFTMETAL dives deep into heartfelt, confessional storytelling and songwriting as a formal introduction to the multi-faceted artist Bronze has evolved into – emerging both a softer and stronger person and artist. Capturing a period of time where Bronze has felt most himself within his music, SOFTMETAL soundtracks the queer experience and draws on queer sensuality to abandon the stereotypes placed on LGBTQ+ people of color, inspire people to be their authentic selves, and stand in a space that doesn’t always welcome it.
