For a first trip to India, a trip to Rajasthan is a fascinating way to discover multifaceted country. This trip has been designed to offer you short distances between stages, and visits to the main unmissable sites of North India.
Visit the capital, Delhi
The Indian Golden triangle first takes you to the heart of the capital Delhi: the main gateway to the country. To soak up the atmosphere of this city, I have planned a short rickshaw ride through the crowded and typical streets of the “Chandni Chowk” market. In the afternoon you discover New Delhi which contrasts greatly with the old town.
Head to Jaipur, the state capital of Rajasthan
You then leave for Jaipur, the pink city, and its formidable palaces of the Maharajas… The discovery of the fort of Amber, leaves you with a memorable memory with the Sheesh Mahal covered from floor to ceiling with mosaics of coloured glass and broken mirrors. You attend the parade of travellers who reach the fortress on the back of elephants, in the old way of princes… It is by jeep that you will reach the fort of Amber because we wish to preserve the well-being of the elephants.
I particularly liked the stop en route at Fatehpur Sikri, a real dream city and its ruins as it is. Former Mughal capital of Akbar the Great, it is easy to imagine life in the fort at the time of its splendour.
Experience the Taj Mahal in Agra
This trip ends with a visit to the mythical Taj Mahal, one of the seven new wonders of the world that can only captivate those who look at it. Take advantage of the visit to the Mehtab Bagh (garden) to benefit from exceptional perspectives of the Taj Mahal: it is the ideal point to see the Taj Mahal in the romantic moonlight. My advice to Agra: go to the esplanade of the Taj Mahal site at dawn to take your exclusive photo, without the usual crowds of this unmissable tourist site in North India.
Hotels during the trip
There are many nice hotels in Rajasthan, Delhi and Agra.
In Delhi, the Biznotel is a small hotel on a human scale and is located in a quiet area of bustling Delhi. The hotel offers spacious and comfortable rooms. In Jaipur, the Ikaki Niwas is a charming little hotel where you are welcomed at home by the owners. It is an authentic colonial-style Indian house that offers ten rooms, all different from each other. The meals prepared there are delicious and you can enjoy a pleasant terrace on the roof for a drink as well as a very small swimming pool. In Agra, the Seven Hills is a larger but quiet hotel despite everything. It is located 10 minutes by tuk-tuk from the sumptuous Taj Mahal. The hotel offers spacious and comfortable rooms with a pleasant swimming pool on the roof to cool off after your day of sightseeing.
For all your visits, I recommend that you are accompanied by a guide who will pass on his knowledge and love of his country, India.
