I watched the trailer for that Wednesday show on Netflix. The one focused on Wednesday Addams. Man, it sucked. One of the worst trailers I’ve ever seen. No, it’s not because Luis Guzman was cast as Gomez. He can look however he looks. Gomez just needs to be super horny for Morticia, and as long as Guzman can make that believable, he’s going to be just fine as Gomez. Fortunately, it’s free to watch a pretty good comedy about the same characters.
I speak, of course, of the ‘60s sitcom The Addams Family. John Astin plays Gomez. Carolyn Jones plays Morticia. Both would play Batman villains. Both definitely seem horny for each other, and they are the highlight of the show. The best episodes of The Addams Family focus on Gomez and Morticia, and they fortunately are the focus of many episodes.
Now, The Addams Family can be fairly formulaic. More often than not, some “normies” show up and get freaked out by the mysterious and spooky titular family. Can it feel a bit repetitive, especially in a binge format? Sure, but when you are looking to chill out, that isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
You can watch The Addams Family on Freevee or Tubi, both of which are free apps. There is also an entire channel dedicated to the show on Pluto TV. Also, did you know there are only two seasons of the show? You can probably get through half the show in one weekend!
