Many people remember famous musician charity fundraisers like Band Aid, Live Aid and Farm Aid. These were big name famous musicians in their time. But what about local bands? Can bands still make a difference in the world?

Shoe drive

The Brunswick High School marching band students are asking the neighborhood to support a project that will help local small business owners in underdeveloped nations.
The group is collecting gently used shoes to give to microbusiness owners in underdeveloped regions. They’ll pay us a small sum of money for the shoes we collect, and then they’ll sell them to small business owners in developing nations who may then resell them to the local populace.
Chili bingo night
What happens when you combine chili and bingo? You get one hot fundraiser idea for bands.
The Carson High School band program is soliciting donations for their Chili Bingo Night fundraiser for Organizers are looking for businesses to donate items for this annual fundraiser, at the Carson High School gym..
Ideally, they hope to get between 80-100 items for raffle, bingo prizes or use for the silent auction.
The donation can be anything the business would like to contribute, a service, a product, a gift card/certificate. Nothing is too small. There are also sponsorship opportunities available.
Annual March-A-Thon
Competing in Bands of America is the goal for the College Station High School Cougar Band & Guard.
They need to raise some money in order to accomplish their goal. Your favorite songs will be performed in the parking lot by the Cougar Band & Guard to set your Saturday morning off to a great start.
The public is invited to donate in two different ways: by dropping cash in designated buckets or by scanning the QR codes shown on the buckets. You can use the QR code to access contactless online payment.
Benefit Concerts
The Zac Brown Band is preparing for a special performance at Nashville, Tennessee’s famed Ryman Auditorium. The “Out In The Middle” performers are scheduled to perform at a charity event next month to raise money and awareness for Hop On A Cure, a non-profit dedicated to advancing ALS research.
Following his own ALS diagnosis, bandmate and founding Zac Brown Band member John Driskell Hopkins, founded Hop On A Cure Foundation, Inc. Hopkins, a writer and bassist.Then, he said, “After careful examination by some of the greatest neurologists in the nation, I have been diagnosed with ALS. I have noticed some balance concerns and some stiffness in my hands. We anticipate that my symptoms will continue to worsen gradually because they have done so gradually from the beginning. I hope to continue rocking with these incredible people for a very long time, God willing.
Food Truck Fundraiser
The Brookings High School Marching Band’s fundraising food truck event and fall preview. Everyone in the neighborhood is welcome to attend the free performance.
While supplies last, from 6 to 7 p.m., the Backyard Grill food truck will offer $12 meal plates that each come with a pulled pork sandwich, chips, and a drink. 75% of revenues, according to the organizers, will go to the band program.
Zumba Fundraiser
HPHS Band hosted a Zumba Fundraiser used Patch.com to advertise to their local community. They made it known that ANYONE was welcome. They encourage you to bring your sneakers and & water bottle to stay hydrated.
The cost? -A $10 cash or check donation should be made out to “HPHS Band” is requested at the door. This is a great way to exercise and raise funds for your cause too,
Car wash
The Council Rock North Band marching band, color guard, and other band members will take a break from their rigorous band camp routine to wash and dry any size vehicle.
While there is no charge for car washing, donations are greatly accepted as the kids are trying to raise money for a spring cultural exchange trip to Hawaii. The price of transportation and equipment rental will be paid for entirely with the revenues.
Band aid
Band Aid is the major yearly fundraiser for Massaponax High School’s bands, including the Marching Panther Pride (MP2) (MP2). Because they receive so little county funding, community support for the band program is crucial. 50 Marching Panther Pride student members will spend the day on Saturday, September 10, knocking on doors to solicit funds. Each online contribution will give them a head start and get us one step closer to our $10,000 target.
Music festival
The Bitter Jester Music Festival, has set up Twelve bands to perform at the free series finale, which is in its 16th year of promoting youth music in the area.
Donations to the Business Recovery Fund, a collaborative initiative of the Highland Park Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club of Highland Park/Highwood, Highland Park Bank & Trust, and First Bank of Highland Park, were encouraged but not needed to enter and enjoy the show.
