Bugeye releases explosive new single ‘Summer In The City’

Bugeye are a queer alternative rock band hailing from the concrete shores of Croydon. Their sound is unique – guitars drenched in overdrive, disco beats, glistening synths and groovy bass riffs. Overall the sound is signature to them, and represents their fun and playful personality. Their lyrics touch on contemporary topics, and they hope that their audience will find solace in their music.

Talking about the new single, front woman Angela Martin shares:

“Taking influences from the likes of Wet Leg, Walt Disco but also looking back to the likes of Blur and Gary Numan, ‘Summer in the City’ is a playful tune that explores the society we live in today. From feeling like you’re winning in life, to turning a corner to tensions and violence, to dating apps to our fickle nature and scrolling social media boredom.

‘Musically we tried to reflect the theme with a lazy Sunday afternoon swagger, but with electronic pulsing tones and guitar hooks of a cyclical nature (reflecting life) to drive the song forward.”

Bugeye are favourites on BBC Introducing, John Kennedy Radio X, Amy Lame 6 Music and winners of the people’s vote on Amazing Radio. ‘Ready Steady Bang’ was included on Louder Than War Top 50 Albums of 2020, and Loud Women Top Albums of 2020. The band has also received features on a long list of indie publications with rave reviews. The ‘Rock Pop Rambles’ podcast was featured in Clash Music’s Five Must-Listen Music Podcasts selected by John Kennedy.
