Six Interesting Ways to Learn About Yourself

Sometimes, friends and family know more about you than you do. Frustratingly, not knowing your own desires and tendencies can be quite common. The modern age presents many self-help books.among other methods for figuring out who you really are.

  1. Learn Your Angel Number

An angel number is a number that informs your personality and your future. The way to discern this number is to see what numbers are most common across identifying numbers, receipts, or license plates. If you have a 555 angel number, then that means you see the number 555 wherever you look. Maybe at 5:55 PM every night you check the time, and it always appears to be the same. That’s your angel number, and to explain more about 555, a 555 person may be similar to one whose Greek Zodiac sign is Leo because 555s need a lot of attention and affection, so they may struggle to offer similar attention to others. Angel numbers are one of many ways for one to learn more about oneself.

  1. Learn Each of Your Zodiac Signs

Most know their sun signs. A sun sign directly correlates with your birth month. Many know that those born under Leo are passionate and those born under Libra are diplomatic, but most people understand each others’ sun signs exclusively. A moon sign reflects who you are deep on the inside, and a rising sign reflects who you are when you meet someone new. Someone who is a Cancer moon, Leo sun, and Libra rising will be diplomatic in public, gregarious among friends or acquaintances, and tearful behind closed doors (Cancers are sensitive).

  1. Maintain a Gratitude Journal

A good way to learn more about yourself and a great way to live a happier life is to maintain a gratitude journal. Every night or morning, write in your journal three of the previous day’s events for which you’re grateful. No matter how bad a day you had or how insignificant the event for which you’re thankful, write three items, and stick to that every night. This can help you learn about what you like and what you appreciate out of life. You might figure out that you don’t like one of your current hobbies or social media apps, and this may let you branch out into hobbies you’ll actually enjoy. Keeping a gratitude journal is an incredible test of willpower because the benefits are far from immediate, but even a daily record of one item might make an impact with regard to how you view yourself.

  1. Talk to a Therapist

A therapist can highlight your tendencies and faults in a constructive way that does not hurt your feelings. Destructive criticism can be difficult to swallow and often leads to immediate defense instead of genuine change. While pricey, a therapist can shed light on how to improve yourself. So many people want to improve themselves. This is why self-help is a booming industry. Talking to a therapist will keep you from having to accomplish self-improvement with a veritable blindfold.

  1. Make Plans Carefully

Life is nothing more than what you do every day. Are you living in accordance with what you enjoy the most? Does your job make you feel productive and helpful? How satisfied would you be if your life were to end tomorrow? When you let go of what you don’t find helpful, productive, or enjoyable, you’re building a better life for yourself. When you browse social media, how do you feel? For many, social media is nothing beyond a painful distraction that induces agonizing jealousy. If you’ve been meaning to delete an account, the best time to do so may be yesterday, but the second-best time is today, at least according to a Chinese proverb. When you make a plan, you either do what you want or accidentally figure out what you want. Those are both good things, with the latter being particularly important for self-actualization.

  1. Take a Personality Test

The Myers-Briggs is not the only test in the personality test game. There are also Enneagram tests and Myers-Briggs strong-interest tests, which are geared toward employment. If you’re in a silly mood and need to let off some steam, sometimes all you need to do is visit a pulpy website to find out what type of sandwich you’d be, though that may not be very informative. Personality tests need to be taken with grains of salt, but they will not cause the Barnum Effect, as they are more genuine ways for you to discern your personality type. For example, the Myers-Briggs test presents tangible comparisons. It compares extroversion to introversion and logic to emotion. One size does not fit all, but one size may fit most, so a Myers-Briggs test might inform some of your personality.
