Best Award-Winning Gambling Movies

The movie industry is something that we all love and has contributed to our entertainment for quite some time now. However, when it comes to gambling, some movies that have hit our cinema screens have been so good, they received nominations and awards. While gambling does have a bit of a sour reputation for Hollywood, doesn’t mean the tales are not good at all.

Before we get started on the best award winning gambling casino films, make sure to check out a place where you can actually play at casinos too, especially if you decide to have a movie marathon with these movies, you may get a tingly gambling feeling and therefore you will most definitely need an outlet to use. CSGObook.com is the place you need to go.

Uncut Gems

A hit movie for 2019, was Uncut Gems. This movie was directed by Safdie Brothers, who many believe to be visionaries after watching how they delivered the movie to Hollywood. As an independent movie, it certainly was incredibly well-written, and provided the gambling scene with a refreshing take entirely.

The performance from Adam Sandler too is unmatched. He channels into the prolific gambler and has the entire vibe and attitude you would expect. It certainly was all-star acting, but of course it is expected from someone like him. The aesthetic of the movie was claustrophobic and really channelled the mental obstacles of the character greatly. This movie went to his mainstream and independent award ceremonies, proving to be an all-time hit in 2019.

Casino (1995)

How can anyone forget this complete classic? Despite being almost 3 decades old, Martin Scorsese takes the audience on a very invested emotional journey throughout the film. We see the brutal world of the gambling industry, and while the scenes do boast some great acting from the entire cast, Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Sharon Stone manage to take the entire attention and limelight from the rest. Sharon’s performance actually earned her an Oscar nomination for best actress, and while she didn’t win that, she did walk away with a Golden Globe instead, which is prestigious, nonetheless.

The storyline is seriously epic, and while many people prefer hippy and adrenaline casino movies by the likes of James Bond for example, this one would really turn your opinion of the online casino world around completely. The movie is completely fast paced, packed with murder, brutality, money, greed and most importantly power.

The Hustler

Last but not least we have the Hustler, a movie directed by Robert Rossen. Featuring some of Hollywood’s most prestigious actors, this movie is a popular one for those that want to see some of the best performances from Paul Newman, Jackie Gleason and Piper Laurie. While it has been a while since its release, it left an impact on the movie industry, especially for the time it was released (1961).

The story tells a tale of a player who is looking to take on a champion in high stakes gambling. Newman, known as Fast Eddie, is a small roller and gambling hustler who is looking to break the gambling scene and really take the limelight of the high stakes pool. Bringing together the themes of loyalty, integrity and ambition, this movie earned 9 nominations for academy awards in total. It did manage to win ‘Best Art Direction’ and ‘Best Cinematography’, in addition to being nominated four times for the Golden Globes.

This movie was clearly one of the best contributions to gambling thus far, despite it being so old. Uncut Gems as modern and new as it is, is much more experimental and less classical, in comparison to Casino and The Hustler.
