Actress Anne Heche Involved in Fiery L.A. Crash

Acclaimed actress Anne Heche was involved in a life-threatening car crash this past Friday when the vehicle she was driving lost control and crashed into a two-story home in Mar Vista, a toney area in the Los Angeles, California area.

Though some details are still pending as of press-time, according to our friends over at The Hollywood Reporter, the Everwood and Wag the Dog star was driving solo when she careened off of the road and hit a home, creating a “structural compromise and erupting in heavy fire.” The resulting blaze – in which no one residing inside was hurt – took roughly 60 firefighters to contain and extinguish. Heche, meanwhile, was temporarily trapped in her burning vehicle before finally being successfully extracted by first-responders on the scene. Though currently hospitalized with burn-related injuries, she has been reported as being in stable condition, albeit with a long road to recovery in her future.

Heche was a mid-1990s film sensation after a tenure in the land of soap operas in the 80s and early 90s, and she found herself at the top of every casting agents list of potential stars for big screen roles. She booked impressive turns in such films as The Juror, Donnie Brasco, Volcano, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Six Days Seven Nights, Psycho and Return to Paradise. That last film, by the by, is worth a re-watch (or a first-time viewing) from film fans; Heche was luminescent in the role of “Beth,” a sister attempting to find justice for her brother (a young Joaquin Phoenix) who has been arrested and held in Malaysia on drug charges. Lately, the talented thespian has been seen to good effect in such productions as Chicago P.D., The Brave and Looks Like Christmas.

Fellow-actors have been quick in sending support for Heche: Alec Baldwin – who has worked with the 53 year old actress in several projects over the years – sent his own well-wishes, saying that “She is an amazingly talented woman…I love you Anne. I love you and I think you are such a talented person. I hope everything is ok. I hope you come through this. My heart goes out to you. I’m sorry you had this tragic thing happen to you and I’m sending you all my love. Everyone join me please in sending their support and love to the wonderful Anne Heche…”

We here at Vents always hate to land on stories like this one. Anne Heche is a tremendous talent and we join Alec Baldwin in wishing her a full physical and emotional recovery.
