Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
Hey Vents! Thank you for featuring us in your magazine. We have been BUSY. This year has been good to us with shows and releases. It feels great to get out and play to our fans in person again.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “The Fight”?
“The Fight” was a song that we wrote fairly quickly. The whole thing came together at the right time. I (Kev) had the opening guitar riff in my head and knew it was something I needed to lay down and show the band. From there we just built it together. We’re so excited with how it came out and know our fans are as well.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
The lyrics in the song were inspired by what was happening to the people around us. A lot of people we are close to are struggling with mental health and we wanted to write a song to inspire people to find the light in the darkness. Everyone has days where they feel they’re not good enough but it’s important to remember your strength and to be there for yourself. It’s easy to forget that sometimes.
Any plans to release any sort of video for the track?
We have some ideas for a music video for the song. We are working on putting together a team to help execute the ideas we have. We are looking at releasing something within the next month or so!
How was the recording and writing process?
Recording for us is always a breeze. We love working with our producer Dario Comuzzi. Recording can be stressful at times but it helps to work with people who you like and who care about what you’re doing. Typically we start with drums and then move to guitars. Bass and vocals we do last. We find that recording the instruments in that order works best for our creative flow.
What role does LA play in your music?
LA is our home base. It’s always fun to play LA shows because usually it’s one big party. Networking is key in this industry too. We try to play with like minded bands and develop a relationship with them and their team. It also makes it easier to invite labels and management if they can make it out.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
Yes! When we recorded The Fight, we also recorded two new songs that we plan on releasing throughout to the rest of 2022. I can’t tell you what they are just yet but I can say that each of them have a unique personality and are still true to The sound of Mechanical Roots.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
The next single will be coming out in October 2022. We are still figuring out which one it’ll be so I can’t tell you the title just yet! All I can say is get ready.
What else is happening next in Mechanical Roots’ world?
With the new release coming in October, we have built a tour around it. We are hitting a ton of great cities across the US and this will be our first tour since the pandemic. We also have a ton of new merch in the making. This year has been really good to us and we are excited for what’s your come!
