In the 1970s, Josie and the Pussycats went to outer space. That is to say, the cartoon about the band from the land of Archie was revamped so that they were adventuring in outer space. Now, it didn’t change the show’s fortunes. It ended after that season. However, why not try that again? Why not send more fictional bands to outer space? Here are five bands we’d like to see shot into orbit. Not because we don’t like them, of course.
1. Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem
The Muppets went to space once in a poorly-received movie. This time, why not just send a band out there? Dr. Teeth and company are an odd bunch. They would probably have a lot of fun in space. What would animal get up to? He’s almost like an alien as is!
2. The Beets
We don’t know a ton about the Beets. We just know that Doug Funnie and Skeeter Valentine love them. This could be the Beets’ chance to be the center of the show. They can sing “Killer Tofu” all over the Milky Way.
3. Mystik Spiral
Slackers in space! Trent and company don’t get much done, musically. Now, imagine them accidentally getting launched into space. How would they manage? It might be funnier if they were up there with some real astronauts. It’d be like The Odd Couple, but with six people total or whatever.
4. Jessie and the Rippers
This could actually be a little sad. After all, Jessie wouldn’t be there for DJ, Stephanie, and Michelle. Also, for Becky! Becky and Jessie would be separated! This show would maybe focus on the two sides of the story, the band up in space and the people they left behind on Earth.
5. The Max Rebo Band
Wait a minute, you might be saying, aren’t the Max Rebo Band already in outer space? They exist in the Star Wars universe, after all. Ah, but they are only down on one planet. Traveling across the universe is easier in the world of Star Wars. We could follow Max Rebo and company on tour, from planet to planet.
