Following a wildly successful stop at New York City’s Governor’s Ball Festival last month, Tom Odell returns with a brand-new track, ‘Flying :)),’ out now via mtheory. Inspired by a quote from legendary producer and music mogul, Rick Rubin, about the importance of applying rules to yourself. Tom decided to record with just a piano and his voice. The result is the work of minimalist beauty, comprising of just Tom’s voice, a piano, and the occasional creak of the stool he sits upon. Listen to ‘Flying :))’ HERE.
The song is accompanied by an animated music video, created by line-drawing artist and director Manshen Lo (Sally Rooney), with animation by Duncan Gist and produced by Nexus Studios who also created the official videos for recent tracks ‘Best Day Of My Life’ and ‘Sad Anymore’. ‘Flying :))’ follows the release of the delicate and haunting ‘Sad Anymore’ this past spring, and the debut single of this new era, ‘Best Day Of My Life’.
Tom recently wrapped his North American headlining tour, followed by a performance at Governors Ball Music Festival in New York City. In other news, Tom recently joined forces with GRAMMY® Award-winning producer Tiësto for a remix of his 2012 hit single ‘Another Love’, with all proceeds going to Choose Love. The release coincides with the track being certified RIAA Platinum with over 1 billion streams in the United States.
