Alternative rock artist K4YLEE delivers a powerful stance on being yourself with her latest release “NOT UR TYPE.”. A rebel at heart, K4YLEE, reigns in heavy-hitting hooks with confrontational lyrics, drawing inspiration from the likes of Joan Jett, Taylor Momsen, and Pat Benatar to create her larger-than-life musical persona.
K4YLEE brings an absolute dance-rock fusion that is powerful and emotional with “NOT UR TYPE”. This danceable throwback, with a definite disco and rock beat, has some real standout portions. In the vocal performance, with the powerful screams all the way down to the breathy exclamations, the emotion is delivered nicely along with the excellent sound of this singer’s unique voice. Going back to the drumbeats, the display of them is reminiscent of a time when rock and disco literally shared the same sounds. I really liked this. Powerful, punchy, and body moving. Finally, the bass and guitar combination are teeth-gritting and angry, and it created the perfect support for the lyrical delivery.
K4YLEE says, “With ‘NOT UR TYPE’, I took a more satirical route to empower listeners to not conform to other people’s standards. In the past, I’ve lost myself trying to meet other people’s needs, and I learned that my desire to be everyone’s ‘type’ was senseless, so I wrote a song about it!”
Following the trail of successful releases, her songs show signs of staying power. K4YLEE released four singles, “Left For Dead”, “Hell and Back”, “Lies”, and “11 Minutes” this past year.
Tomorrow, July 8th, she releases her official music video for “NOT UR TYPE”, but you get to see it here first. This is a must-watch, she really puts on a hell of a show!
