There was a time in the not so distant past when actor Jude Law ruled the silver screen with his peculiar combination of hawkish good looks and out of this world talent. From films as vast and diverse as Gattaca, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, eXistenZ, The Talented Mr. Ripley, A.I. Artificial Intelligence, Road to Perdition, Cold Mountain, Closer and The Grand Budapest Hotel, this Lewisham, London native was all the rage among cinema aficionados and it felt like the good times and the jaw-dropping string of outstanding performances in exceptional films would never reach an end; until, one day, it sort of did. Though still very much active as a thespian of note and distinction (since 2020, Law has been seen to good effect in no less than ten productions, with two more set up and in pre-production), there’s a general feeling that the two-time Academy Award nominated actor has shifted gears somewhat and segued into a slightly more behind-the-scenes role with his production shingle Riff Raff Entertainment. And say hey, speaking of that vaunted Jude Law production house, our A Rainy Day in New York fans over at Variety have some good news about the actor’s side-hustle that might just put at least a pensive smile on the talented Mr. Law’s mug (Trust us: Pensive is good – This is Jude Law we’re talking about after all…).
Jude Law’s production house Riff Raff Entertainment has landed an enviable multi-million smackers in investment along with a newly announced CEO, our fellow entertainment nerds revealed today. This infusion of money into Riff Raff comes courtesy of venture capital group Calculus Capitol. This coveted deal is all biscuits and gravy for Law and Co. who can now set about hiring brand-spankin’ new executives (one of those being Stephen Fuss as Riff Raff’s Big Wheel CEO) for the company as well as land exciting new film and television projects; everyone’s a winner, Ladies and Gents!
In a press release, Law and his cohorts said that they “are thrilled by the support from Calculus and excited to welcome Stephen to Riff Raff as CEO, who joins with a wealth of knowledge and tenacity, With many projects in various stages of development across film and television, we look forward to continue to break the mould in the space of entertainment with exciting new talent and captivating stories.”
Congrats to Jude Law and his production pad Riff Raff Entertainment; now go out and make some great movies and television, gang!
