Hi, HITHA! Tell us more about your new single, “Forever”. What was the inspiration behind the song?
“Forever” is all about my love for my dad. He has always been there for me and has guided me to discovering who I am. Our endless discussions on the way to the recording studio taught me perspective and allowed me to realize that along with music, activism to bring about positive social change is another worthwhile cause to pursue. I seriously wouldn’t be who I am today without him. My father is one of my biggest inspirations. He has accomplished so much but still shows the utmost humility and compassion for others, which I strive to emulate. I wanted to bring about the essence of our father-daughter relationship into an upbeat song that expressed how much I adore and admire him.
What was your creative process to writing and recording, “Forever”?
Well, “Forever” was one of the most challenging songs I had to write. Not because I didn’t want to, but because it had to be perfect. The process started all the way back in 2018. The lyrics, melody, and literally every other part of the song was different, but it is all about my dad. I dropped the idea for a couple of months before approaching it a different way. My biggest concern was that it still sounded cheesy. In 2019, I made a list of reasons for why I loved my dad. And then I made a list of the key points of our relationship. This really helped me figure out what to include in the song. After rewording a couple sentences and adding in some references, I was done. Yet, it still wasn’t completely right. It took me a couple of weeks to fine tune the words and melody. We recorded and produced the songs in 2020 at Krunk’s studio, which went especially well. We made the music video in 2021. And now “Forever” is released!
How do you hope your fans will react to “Forever”?
I hope my fans listen to “Forever” and think about the love they have for their own father or father figure or anyone else they admire greatly. I know not everyone is as lucky as I am when it comes to having a father like mine, but I do hope they can find some comfort in my song. Outside of the lyrics, I hope my fans will dance to the music!
What other projects are in the works we can look forward to?
We have so much in the works! My music video of “Forever” releases on June 19th, Father’s Day!
I will also be dropping my full album, FOREVER, on July 8, 2022.
I’m heading to India this summer to fulfill my goals and my position as the Youth Ambassador of the Unite4:Good organization.
