Remi Jones is a woman who has never stopped working towards achieving her dreams. She began her career in media as a television show correspondent, interviewing various talents across New York City. Today, she is the executive producer, and host of her talk show Remi TV, which is based in Rhode Island.
She tells us the funniest mistake she’s made when getting started out was letting someone talk her out of starting her own show. At one point in time someone had convinced her not to do her show. She regained faith and told herself that anything is possible and moved forward with it. The best part about getting back on her path was reaching the goals that she never thought she could reach. The lesson she learned from that experience is people will try to talk you out of your dreams because they did not have the courage and faith to go forward with theirs. Do not let anyone in this world stop your shine or growth — the sky’s the limit.
Remi wants to share her tips for inspiring others to follow their passion and start their business:
1. Collaborate with others
When you approach others for a favor or to help you get your name out there, Remi advises you to approach the request like it’s a collaborative partnership. You need to think strategically and find a way for all involved to win on the outcome. You can’t just expect people to want to help you; you need to give them a compelling reason to help you.
2. Networking with others
Strong networks are a great way to get referrals and get people talking about you. But as with collaboration, networking goes both ways as well. Be eager to help others, and they will want to help you as well.
3. Never quit
The journey of an entrepreneur is filled with hard work and discouraging days. On the more challenging days, you need to devote time to self-care. Self-care means taking time away from the business and doing things that feed your soul so that you get energized and keep going. Quitting is not an option.
4. Invest in yourself
Starting a business costs money, and Remi encourages entrepreneurs to make that investment. She believes that when you follow your dreams and passion, that you work hard and give it everything you’ve got, there will be a return on that investment.
