Sambrum brings Indian American blend to hip hop music

Hip hop music has grown multiple folds in the last few years. While most artists create hip hop songs in one language, there are artists like Sambrum who sing and create hip hop songs in multiple languages.

A US citizen of Indian descent, 27-year-old Sambrum started his journey into the world of music at the age of three as a singer and tabla player. Although he only transitioned into hip hop in 2012 and launched his first hip hop project called Double Vision in 2016.

Along with being a singer, Sambrum is also a musical artist, rapper and social media personality.

Since he launched Double Vision, Sambrum has been releasing music videos with his group known as UnderGround Princes.

The UnderGround Princes (UGP) are an international alternative hip-hop music group of Indian descent from the USA. The UGP consists of Sambrum and his best friend producer and rapper Rohiit.

Living in Washington DC, Sambrum has been expanding his fan base and shooting music videos, in English and Hindi and sometimes a blend of the two languages, like Deadly Tandem and Bhoomigat Pradhaan.

UGP uses Indian and American cultural styles to blend into a unique musical sound. The group creates hip hop music in four languages — English, Hindi, Kannada, and Telugu.

The group released their album Brown Bulls in 2021 which is comprised of the single Neck which has over 1 million views on YouTube; Sinhaasan with 500K views and Then it all started with 500K streams. Their song Azadi also streamed on N** 2k21 soundtrack.

Sambrum, known as RanKING on TikTok has over 400K followers on the app and can be found @iamsambrum.

UGP is planning to drop their new album Brown Bulls 2 in 2022 along with their next single called Re-Up in June this year. Along with this, they will be releasing a new song and music video every month this year. The group also plans to travel to India in winter this year to follow up their successful 2019-2020 Indian tour.
