KVNE & BADLOOK release their first collaborative single ‘Heroin’

With already 10K streams and features in Spotify playlists like Ready to Rock and Fresh Finds, KVNE and BADLOOK’s first collaborative single Heroin is certainly to keep on your radar!

Aiming to release a complete EP together later this year, the two Canadian artists are offering an energetic pop punk track, with a hard-hitting sound reflecting their past as members of metal bands and a laidback and raw delivery probably reminiscent of their respective hip hop solo careers. Written as a “call to answer”, Heroin could very well be interpreted as a desire to break free from a toxic relationship but under the surface, it evokes a different type of dependency that KVNE unfortunately knows too well… “Since I was a teenager, I’ve struggled with addiction. I would replace one substance with another, consistently leaning on something to hide trauma or emotions. Today, I’ve had years of sobriety under my belt, but the battle with addiction never really dissipates. By the end of two years of the pandemic and isolation, I had gone through broken hearts, cancelled tours, attempting to homeschool my son on my own and what felt like an endless disappointment, KVNE confides. I had kind of taken a break from working on any content for myself, while I was still actively writing and producing for other artists. But I just had a massive disconnect with all of it, and to be honest I was really struggling with my mental health. I couldn’t seem to find joy in anything and felt like I was getting closer and closer to relapsing.”
