4. Age of Empires IV
Let’s keep an aerial view to appreciate the return of a true monument of the real-time strategy game, the PC’s favorite genre, with Age of Empires IV. Led by the talented Relic Entertainment studio, the historic return to the forefront of a RTS legend was as unexpected as it was successful.
Between homage to the hilarious Age of Empires II and modernity, this fourth opus succeeds in intelligently reshuffling the cards of a genre that was thought to be almost fossilized and immutable. Whether it’s the single player mode featuring different civilizations with unique gameplay or a multiplayer game that has lost none of its superbness, the franchise takes a welcome new start.
5. Crusader Kings III
Straddling the line between strategy and management games, another prerogative of the PC, we have the latest title from the aliens of Paradox Interactive. Crusader Kings III is quite simply the most complex and accomplished medieval empire management game available today.
The Swedish studio has even taken advantage of this new opus to make its fascinating puzzle less intimidating for young lords. Aesthetically much more pleasing to the eye and clearer in its interface or mechanics, managing an empire has never been so appealing.
Once again, only Paradox Interactive is able to do better in a category where the studio has placed itself as a true emperor. If you are more attracted by a management game of the same barrel, we can only warmly recommend Stellaris, still from Paradox!
6. Baldur’s Gate III
Another historical genre on the PC, the C-RPG has recently experienced a welcome expansion. After making one of the best games of all time with Original Sin II, Larian Studios has caught the attention of Wizards of the Coast to offer us its vision of the iconic Baldur’s Gate franchise. And it’s fair to say that the cheerful Belgian studio has crazy ambitions in this regard!
We’re cheating a little bit because the game won’t be released in early access until 2023, but what we’ve already seen is extremely promising and makes us shudder with anticipation. In our opinion, no video game can currently capture the feeling of a Dungeons & Dragons RPG as well as Baldur’s Gate III.
Not to spoil anything, the story centered on the Mental Flagellants and the most beautiful art direction ever seen in a C-RPG have totally seduced us. We can’t wait to get lost for a hundred hours in the final version. We can’t wait for 2023!
7.World of Warcraft
8.Lost Ark
9.Disco Elysium : The Final Cut
10.Minecraft
