Actress Samantha Morton Set to Reprise Her Character of Alpha in Upcoming “Tales of the Walking Dead” Spinoff Series

I’ll give this to the seemingly never-ending story of The Walking Dead: This is one high-octane thrill ride that never ceases to surprise with all of its various and sundry twists and turns. One wonders if creator Robert Kirkman had any inkling lo those many years ago just what he had hit upon with his premise of a zombie apocalypse and the regular Joe’s just trying to survive it. How could he have, really? Since 2010, the main series has pulled out all of the stops in surprising viewers and becoming a bona-fide ratings winner. Along the way, as with many successes in the television landscape, spinoffs of The Walking Dead have become an almost expected affair – Fear the Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, the upcoming Tales of the Walking Dead, Isle of the Dead and the impending spinoff which is set to feature everyone’s favorite Joanie and Chachi of the zombie world – Carol and Daryl. Yep, it’s been a veritable embarrassment of riches as far as this long-running franchise is concerned, and it should come as little to no surprise to anyone that among the above listed iterations of the AMC series, fans can almost bank on eventually reconnecting with past characters that have been introduced within the Walking Dead Universe. Such is the case with actress Samantha Morton and her character known as Alpha, who riveted fans during her brief yet memorable turn in the main series. According to our pals over at Bloody Disgusting, Morton is set to reprise her role in aforementioned anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead.

Samantha Morton, who brought new levels of badness in her portrayal of Alpha in the ninth season of The Walking Dead, has been announces as returning in Tales of the Walking Dead. Fans might recall Alpha’s predilection to wearing the skin of zombies as a part of her battle gear, a trait we assume will carry over into the new series.

So what can we expect from Morton and Tales of the Walking Dead? Something different, that’s for sure: Scheduled for an initial six-episode run, the new anthology series which is set firmly in the spooky world of the Walkers is tentatively penciled in for a summer of 2022 release on AMC.

Morton won’t be the only marque name set to make her mark on Tales of the Walking Dead. Terry Crews, Parker Posey, Daniella Pineda, Jillian Bell, Anthony Edwards and Poppy Liu will all be plying their considerable acting chops in service of some good frights in the new show.

According to Scott Gimple, one of the key architects in the Walking Dead ethos, the new show will have a striking format that will only serve to richen the world that Kirkman and Co. have woven. “Each one hour episode is set within the world of The Walking Dead and will feature both new and existing characters.”

Keep your eyes peeled to our fearless pages for any and all new information as we dope it out on the upcoming Tales of the Walking Dead!
