Shylo is a world-class talent with a sound and artistry that isn’t often found in the independent artist scene. She describes herself as spontaneous and that free-spirited mindset is apparent in her career. Her sound is all her own and her recent change of genres is further testament to her determination to follow her own path.
Like any good artist, Shylo treats music as the truest form of self-expression and she’s intentional with everything she does. Knowing that this is a pivotal time in her career we took the opportunity to catch up with her and have a conversation. Shylo filled us in on the background of her career and what her exciting future looks like.
To kick off our conversation, Shylo talked to us about the recent genre change, her new project coming up, and her excitement for both.
“I recently switched genres from EDM to Rap and R&B. I am creative and spontaneous when it comes to the type of music I choose to express my life in. I’m starting on a new journey with my new path with music and I’m so excited for my next project.”
We wanted to know more about what makes Shylo tick and what drives her creativity. On what influences her and her sound she told us this.
“I have to stay ahead of everything so I believe in looking at other people’s mistakes, taking my time with my career, and being guided by my team.”
With a better understanding of her background, we turned our attention to the music itself. First, we asked Shylo what was her favorite song that she’s created to this point.
“My favorite song is ‘Death’ because it’s about a new start after a messy relationship.”
Shylo clearly takes her music creation personally and as an opportunity to tell real stories about the trials of life. When we asked her about her favorite moment of her career so far it was again about the music.
“The best moment of my career so far was making my first song and actually hearing my song come to life.”
If you’ve ever created music before you know what an amazing feeling it is to create your first song. Shylo describing it as seeing the “song come to life” is a feeling that we completely understand. We loved getting to hear about the passion she has for her own music.
With a lot going on for her right now, we asked what was up next for the growing young star.
“My next journey is to tap into the rap genre and see what amazing path it will take me.”
Switching genres is an ambitious task but we truly believe in her ability to do so successfully. Her commitment to following her own creative path and letting life inspire the music she makes has continued to work well for her. That’s our take anyway. “If you want music that makes you have fun and is some dope relatable music, then listen to my music. Everything i make is different, so listen to my songs and see what vibes with and matches you.”
