Countless exceptional individuals are rising to challenge the status quo and spark change. Accordingly, Atlanta-based artist and activist Nhvada is one of those brilliant influencers. He is an Atlanta Creative Activist with a mission to make a change.
Nhvada is a powerhouse performer. Yet despite his success, he is very understanding of the social disadvantage compared to his other counterparts. With the understatement that there is a new wave of black creatives rising, he believes that we are responsible for showing representations to the future youth coming after us.
With his new project coming soon, he wants people to see him differently. Creating something visually has given him the freedom and outlet to connect with masses of people who feel just like him.
“I find myself always getting a bit emotional when talking about my first visual content that was released late December in 2020. The idea that so many young people worldwide felt the same emotions I was feeling sent me into a creative whirlpool. I now have a community of people who genuinely support me without hesitation. They call themselves the Vadababes. My lovely Vadababes are the reason I’m still here,” says the creative activist.
Nhvada has learned the art of applying his skills in choreography and acting in this new project. The young activist is brimming with excitement because he knows the Vadababes will appreciate it first and foremost. As an artist, he firmly believes that it is highly essential for content creators and artists to incorporate their inspirations and trails of errors in their work.
“I remember watching Todrick Hall’s documentary Behind the Curtain and thinking, ‘OMG, he’s everything I aspire to be and more!’ Todrick was everything I needed to see to give me that green light to pursue my dreams and know they are attainable. He’s a forever Legend in my book,”recalls Nhvada.
With 2021 ending, Nhavda has been through a lot of hardships. He believes that 2021 has been one of the craziest years of his life to date. From experiencing family pain to his relationships being affected, he knew he felt the need to release all this energy he was experiencing as an artist. Today, his strength inspires those who struggle with life’s ups and downs.
Nhvada has a lot of big goals for himself. And at times, he is afraid to share it aloud, but he is a leasing consultant when he is not creating visuals. His major influences in his craft are Todrick Hall, Lady Gaga, Freddie Mercury, and many other brilliant entertainers who have all motivated him to express his purest and rawest emotions out on display.
“Touching bases on what it means to be a ‘black queer entertainer’ has been a thought I’ve been thinking about heavily lately. What it would mean to challenge the norm of what is considered a really ‘chaotic’ industry. These performers I’ve looked to over countless years have been such a safe place for me in my heart. When I think about my role and position, I hope to play an important role and make a significant contribution in the entertainment industry,” says the passionate activist.
