Production House Fremantle Scores Angelina Jolie for Three Year Filmmaking Deal

In a deal that would make her video game and franchise heroine alter-ego Lara Croft proud, Oscar winning actress Angelina Jolie has just signed a three year lucrative and wide-ranging creative deal with distributor and producer Fremantle, according to our good buddies over at Variety.

The new deal which Jolie has agreed to will see her partner up with Fremantle to come up with a – in the words of Fremantle’s own statement announcing the agreement – “sophisticated, powerful, and internationally focused slate of feature films, documentaries, and original series in which she will produce, direct, and/or star – based on each individual project.” Sounds to us like a whole lotta Jolie is on the way for all of you discerning movie fans out there!

First on the dance card for Jolie and Fremantle will be the new film Without Blood, a story derived from the smash book of the same name by author Alessandro Baricco. The upcoming movie will reportedly tackle some pretty heady things which are always relevant such as war, memory, revenge and – we can only hope – healing. Jolie will direct and produce Without Blood, which is set to head into production this May in Italy.

Other soon to be announced items the new deal will cover are documentaries, feature films and original television content.

“To have the freedom to tell important stories and bring them to a global audience is at the heart of this agreement with Fremantle,” the Girl Interrupted star said in a press release. “I am excited to be working with such a passionate and forward-looking team that has an international perspective.”

Working alongside Jolie on this three year odyssey will be Fremantle global CEO and resident big-wheel Jennifer Mullin and Andrea Scrosati, the group COO and continental Europe CEO. Wrapping the whole thing up in a nice bow and serving as advisors to the actress/director will be De Maio Entertainment czar Lorenzo De Maio.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Angelina, joining creative forces in the next phase of her extraordinary career as a producer, director, actor and humanitarian,” Mullin enthused in her own statement on the signed, sealed and delivered deal.

Angelina Jolie has always been an incredible actress of dynamic range and versatility, and we look forward to reporting on any and all of her upcoming projects which fall under the Fremantle banner!
