Upcoming Oscars Ceremony Scores Kevin Costner, Chris Rock, Zoe Kravitz and Lady Gaga as Presenters

Many film fans over the years have delved into imaginary team-ups of favorite actors and actresses, perhaps wondering what magic may have come from pairing the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio alongside River Phoenix in a Mary Scorsese or Francis Ford Coppola flick or a 1940s Jimmy Stewart chewing up scenery with a 1980s Meryl Streep in a Frank Capra joint. These are generally fun and harmless trifles which passes the time even as we question the logic behind the real-world mashup of Oscar-winner Helen Mirren and Vin Diesel (a man who knows but one Oscar and that is Oscar Mayer; waka-waka) in the seemingly never-ending Fast and Furious movies. That thought of unlikely team-ups between actors came to mind yesterday when our Odd Couple enthusiasts over at The Hollywood Reporter announced some of the notable thespians that would be stepping onto the stage to present awards and make with snappy introductions at the Dolby Theatre at the Hollywood & Highland Center when the 94th Academy Awards premieres on March 27.

So just who exactly will be presenting at this cornucopia of cinema? It’s an intriguing lineup, mainly because most of the talented folks announced as being tapped by the Academy to present those coveted Oscars make for strange bedfellows, indeed: Lady Gaga, Zoe Kravitz, Chris Rock and Kevin Costner will be joining already announced presenters such as Rosie Perez and Yuh-Jung Youn at the 94th annual Oscar ceremony. Ladies and Gents, I present to you the most awkward cocktail party ever.

The addition of Lady Gaga comes as perhaps an olive branch from the members of the Academy whom many feel was overlooked for her stunning turn in House of Gucci when Oscar nominations were announced recently.

Costner seems to fit the Oscar profile better than most: The erstwhile Field of Dreams and The War star swept the 63rd Academy Awards with his masterpiece Dances with Wolves and it’s genuinely nice to see him put in an appearance this year; he’s Oscar and film royalty.

Rock and Kravitz have yet to get their accolades via a nomination from the Academy – Kravitz is widely considered up and coming with head-turning parts in big productions like The Batman and Mad Max: Fury Road. Rock meanwhile should really be hosting the entire show this year as he has done in the past; He’s that good and that on point in making with the funny.

An interesting presenter lineup and more than enough of an excuse to get those tin-foiled rabbit ears fired up! Check out the 2022 Academy Awards this March 27 and tell ‘em Vents sent you!
