Born in South Carolina, brothers Prince Riley and King Riley now together makeup the musical duo Selfish Ways. The duo recently teamed up with Maheez for the “LITLIFE” single and music video. VENTS got to interview Selfish Ways and you can read that conversation below.
When did you two decide to form Selfish Ways? Where did the idea come from?
We became Selfish Ways in 2005.
It came from a lot of meditation. And just knowing
“EVERYWHERE WE LOOK ALL WE SEE IS SELFISH WAYS“
What makes you two a great creative team?
The fact that we are like chameleons, we’re literally a jack of all trades.
We do our best not to lack not saying we’re perfect, but definitely the closest to it.
How would you describe your style and genre? How is this unique to what is out on the scene right now?
Honestly the versatility, not being boxed in allows us to explore genre blending. Which is what we always stood for, to stand out and be different.
We’re kicking down doors and breaking barriers.
What was it like sharing the stage with rap legends like Yo Gotti, T.I., Waka Flocka Flame, 50 Cent, Gucci Mane? How did these experiences help your musical journey?
Sharing the stage with some of the greats allowed us to experience what to prepare for.
Definitely would say that it let us know that this is exactly what we we’re born to do.
What is “LITLIFE” about? What was it like creating this track?
“LITLIFE” is about living care free, not worried about what others are saying about you.
To embrace being in the moment of pure happiness and good energy.
Imagine living in a world full of people that actually knew how to live.
It’s like a natural high on life.
