Recently, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air got a reboot on Peacock. Now called Bel-Air, this isn’t your father or older sibling’s Fresh Prince. That was a fairly-fun sitcom starring Will Smith before he shot to movie stardom. Bel-Air is a drama. This got us thinking about what other lighter, more-family-friendly shows we’d like to see get a serious reboot. Would they necessarily be good? Maybe not, but they would be interesting. Sadly, we were beaten to the punch by Sabrina.
1. Scooby-Doo
There have been many iterations of Scooby-Doo. Some of them are sillier than others. They are all light and comedic, though. Just once, we’d like to see a serious version of the Scooby gang. Delve into some actual horror a bit perhaps. Sure, the talking dog makes that trickier, but they could do it.

2. Full House
Full House is a show about two men who move in with their friend to help him raise his three daughters after his wife dies. That could easily be fodder for a drama. Remember, the cast will be different. We aren’t asking Dave Coulier to be a serious thespian.

3. Clarissa Explains It All
We wanted to get one ‘90s Nickelodeon show on the list. Clarissa Explains It All works best for that, we believe. Maybe it’s more like My So-Called Life now. Plus, they can dig into Clarissa and Sam’s thing a little more.

4. ALF
An alien secretly living with a family? Hijinks can ensue! Or not! ALF is a goofy, cheesy sitcom. You could give it a serious twist, though. ALF would have to be quite different in terms of his characterization. Less Borsch Belt jokes. Then again, the series finale of ALF ends with him captured by the U.S. government. Maybe it was actually more dramatic than we thought.

5. Happy Days
Happy Days was a sitcom about teenagers having fun in the ‘50s. It’s usually quite stress-free in terms of incident. Fonzie once jumped a shark on waterskis, after all. What if they were willing to get dramatic, though? A drama about life growing up in the ‘50s? A very-different version of The Fonz? That sounds interesting. Plus, now Happy Days can be an ironic title!
