Coming from Ocala, Florida, StreetSmartz101 are a hip-hop crew dedicated to speaking the truth. They’ve seen plenty of hardship and they’ve had to work hard to rise up. But rise up they have, and in the new song and video “Money Talk” (directed by MOSKINOFILMSLLC), they’re full of swagger and confidence. Recently, VENTS Magazine interviewed rapper G about “Money Talk”, how his life experiences have shaped his musical journey, and more.
When did you discover your passion for making music?
I believe I was around 6 years old. I got a drum set for Christmas.
In what ways have your pleasantries and hardships shaped your musical journey and releases?
I have a lot of experience to draw from. Good and bad. Also, the other group members have a story to tell. Each release that you hear from the group, will speak of our everyday living of how we lived a certain lifestyle. Joy, pain, struggles, and also fun.
What inspired you to write “Money Talk,” and how do you connect with its message? How do you think audiences will relate and connect with the song’s depth? While in federal prison, I had a long time to reflect on my past actions. I wanted the listeners to understand that living the fast life comes with consequences. I was lucky to get imprisonment. Instead, of the graveyard. Some of the listeners may know of family and friends, that’s been affected by street life.
What was your experience recording the music video for “Money Talk”?
The video shoot was great. Mo did a great job. The energy at the shoot was bananas. We had a wonderful time. Mo has vision. He’s very creative. I can’t wait to see what he does with the next single titled “X-Rated”
What can fans and followers expect from StreetSmartz101 next in 2022?
We will release a total of 7 songs. Every two weeks you will get a song. We are very excited. So get ready for more great music. Also don’t forget to follow us on all social media platforms.
