Fasten Your Seatbelts: Actress Sharon Stone Set for Season 2 of HBO Max’s “Flight Attendant”

A lot of you are old enough to recall when Oscar nominated actress Sharon Stone was the thespian to beat in the 1990s and early 2000s. From her “did she or didn’t she” performance in 1992’s Basic Instinct to her stellar work in Scorsese’s 1995 outing Casino, Stone hit the Hollywood scene like a modern day Marilyn Monroe with attitude to spare: tough, independent, sexy and super-smart, Stone personified a lot of what was good about the industry of that era. She was everywhere…until one day when she wasn’t.

The movie business is nothing if not cyclic, and if you’re itching to see a favorite actor or actress make any sort of comeback, a little time and patience are usually your best friends in that regard (though we here at Vents are still awaiting a proper return of thespians Penelope Ann Miller and Casey Siemaszko). Case in point on that very matter would be Sharon Stone who, according to our War and Remembrance fanatics over at The Hollywood Reporter, is primed for a standout role in the upcoming second season of HBO Max series The Flight Attendant.

For anyone that may have skipped out on watching the first season of one of the better ongoing TV series, The Flight Attendant is a comedy-thriller based off of the best-selling novel of the same name from author Chris Bohjalian. Featuring Kaley Cuoco (The Wedding Ringer, The Big Bang Theory), the series is a classic whodunit: Flight attendant Cassie Bowden (Cuoco) is a free-wheeling sort, given to some pretty wild times with other like-minded folks. After a layover in Bangkok, Cassie wakes up next to the body of a man who was on her last flight whose throat has been slashed. Not recalling any details of what may have happened and fearing law enforcement, she winds up cleaning up the crime scene before departing back for America. And thus our story really begins…

Sharon Stone will be joining the season two cast of The Flight Attendant as Cassie’s mother (making all of us who caught Sliver in movie theaters back in the day feel really old) in what is being described as a recurring role. She’ll be joining three other newcomers to the show when it returns, Mo McRae, Callie Hernandez and J.J. Soria.

Welcome back to our myopic Hollywood-view, Ms. Stone! Though you never really were too far away from it all, we’re still glad to have you back on such a high-profile show!
