This year Marvinmarvelous has been hard at work discovering his talent and branching out into new areas of the industry. Earlier on in the year, Marvin launched his own radio show called ‘The Marvin Show’, which is home to exclusive artists emerging from all corners of the scene, with a mixture between some underground tunes you can really sink your teeth into, down to the industry-leading hits that everybody can get dancing to. Throughout the months, his show has rocketed in volume, with placements on radio shows like ‘Channel Music’, ‘KL Radio’, ‘Starter FM’, and ‘Clubland FM’. With a new show released every week, now is your chance to catch up an array of talented artists from artists likeAlannM, Yuri Eleven, Jack Truant, and Cloonee just to name a few.
1. How has this year been for you?
First of all, thanks for having me. This year actually has been pretty good for me. Life is good, no complaints.
2. What would you say has been your biggest highlight this year, both personally and career-wise?
Because of covid, I’ve been able to relax and explore avenues in the music business. I’ve gotten more into concert production, and movie scoring. Before covid, I would have been too busy gigging to have time to do these things.
3. What are your hopes for your musical path in the coming 12 months?
My plan is to be more consistent in releasing new music. I want to do more collaborations next year also. It’s always interesting to work with other people, there’s always something new to learn.
4. How has your style developed since the start of the year now that you look back?
More and more, my music is chord and melody-driven, as opposed to being just a kick and high hat with some bass on it.
5. Do you have any exciting projects coming up next year?
Oh yes, I’ve been working on some more club-oriented music. I’m excited about playing some of my own music at my DJ gigs.
6. Can you highlight any good outcomes of the lockdowns we have endured this year?
As I mentioned before, I’ve been able to pursue other opportunities in the music business. Movie scoring has been very exciting for me because the music is emotion-driven, not dance-driven.
7. What are your favourite things about the holiday season?
How my wife dresses up the house with Christmas things. She starts right after Thanksgiving and it doesn’t end until February. LOL
8. How will you be spending the holidays this year?
I’ll be at my house in the Dominican Republic for Christmas, and I’ll be doing my usual NYE week at some of the resorts there.
9. Do you have any unique traditions around the holidays?
Not really, I just try to enjoy every day.
10. What are your resolutions for the new year and how will you stick to them?
I plan to finish the songs I start, release on a regular basis, and practice my piano more.
11. Got any wise words going into the new year?
Remember that life is short, enjoy every day!
12. Lastly, how are you going to make sure you smash it in 2022?
I plan to make quality music, DJ quality sets, and work with a quality team.
