Analyzing Artist & Entrepreneur Rey Rey Rodriguez’s Company Website

Rey Rey Rodriguez is a renowned visual artist based out of South Florida. The photographer turned entrepreneur, made a name for himself in the art scene with a combination of masterful, yet controversial artwork and systematic online marketing.  An article in GQ Magazine described him as, “A mysterious art creator, known to work from behind the scenes, who disappears quietly for long periods of time, then emerges out of nowhere with dozens of completed projects, only to once again vanish from the public eye.“  “The Mind of Rey Rey®,” the name he used at first as a watermark on his photography and short films, eventually became the name of his company.  A company that began as a small LLC in order to profit from his passion of photography, which in time sprouted into a multimedia & marketing brand providing services worldwide. 

A paramount part of a successful business is it’s website.  It gives the business an online presence worldwide, credibility, a digital place for potential clients to get acquainted with them, a platform to help them grow on search engines, and it’s a powerful visual marketing tool.  When someone enters a website, the first impression can either seal the deal, or kill it instantly.  Too much information about the business can come off as boastful or the potential client may have a short attention span and find it not worth reading. Not enough information, and they may assume you’re lazy.  Too many graphics or images make it look too busy. Not enough graphics or pictures and the site may come off as spam. Low-res photos, colors that clash, too many fancy fonts, lack of uniformity, content that bores, or using a frequently used template can lower the site’s quality.  But, when all the right elements come together to create a well built website, the company’s brand appears elite.

As you enter the website, you’re welcomed by a beautiful but morbid, black & white image of a bride and groom with their faces painted like skulls, kissing under a cross, as the groom hands his bride a human heart colored in blood red.  As you begin to reflect on what you’re seeing, the photo slides to the left and a new image appears.  The slideshow shows a combination of creatively shot, high-resolution photos of different genres, ranging from abstract, commercial, street, combat sports, wedding, portrait, product, event, dark photography, and more (the Photography pages display a collection of these).

The Home page has the appearance of a skillfully constructed artist’s portfolio, until you glance at the header and realize that this is a business site.  To the right of the company’s logo are the word’s, “A brand by Rey Rey Rodriguez.”  Underneath the logo, a title reads: “Multimedia, Creative & Digital Marketing, and Branding.” 

The Services page lists photography, web design, search engine optimization (SEO), web maintenance, ads & social media marketing, graphic design, videography, press releases, influencer / promotional posts and a few more, as well as pricing.

The About page introduces you to Rey Rey with his portrait, named “Choosing a Face for My Audience,” which he uses as a personal logo on his social media accounts.  Underneath the portrait, you’ll find his quote, “With this site I have planted my seed, you’re now infected with my artistic disease,” followed by a short bio his and of the company.

The Web Design page gives a short intro to their web services, along with the quote, “stylistic, creative, and easy to use websites that rank high on search engines.”  There’s a strip of illuminating thumbnails that when clicked opens other beautifully designed websites created by The Mind of Rey Rey.

The Press page is filled with posts and links of featured articles about Rey Rey and The Mind of Rey Rey.

There are several options for those looking to contact or follow them on social media platforms. And the site has an Instagram, Facebook, and a Twitter feed.  The site maintains perfect branding uniformity by using its company name as its handle in all areas (website:, email: [email protected], on all social media: @themindofreyrey).

The Negatives:

There’s a bit of a confusion that occurs when visiting this website for business purposes.  The website has a dark, edgy, and artistic look, but wouldn’t necessarily be considered “professional” to an audience that doesn’t appreciate pages that are saturated with art and animated features (sliders, button and thumbnails that reveal options, logos and other words that float in while scrolling down), and the use of inverted font and background colors (most business websites use the standard white or light background with black or dark fonts, whereas this site uses the opposite).   There are also images within the collections of fighters inflicting pain on each other, horror shoots that may be considered gory to some, and other unorthodox photos that may send some viewers running.

The Positives:

Overall, Rey Rey’s website delivers a very visually impactful and impressive presentation, and would be more than perfect as an artist’s portfolio.  Had this site been used for the purpose of getting to know Rey Rey Rodriguez as an artist, public figure, influencer, creator, or as a platform to display his artwork, we would have considered it one of the best we’ve reviewed.

A Google search of the names “Rey Rey Rodriguez” and “The Mind of Rey Rey” results in a swarm of positive reviews, happy clients, tons of press, and social media accounts with a large following.  So, while the all-in-one (personal and business) websites don’t work for most, it seems to be working for them.  Either the quality of services they provide speaks for itself, or like his artwork, Rey Rey has figured out the visual art elements needed to draw audiences to his websites.
