Morreale Paris is a French fragrance house from Paris with a lot of interesting particularities that sets them apart from their direct competition, including the fact that they have produced and sold the most expensive perfume in the world for over $1.5 million in 2018, that they’ve been developing their business model exclusively in the United States over the past 36 months, or that they release every year marketing campaigns that would make LVMH shiver, but one of the the peculiarities that really makes us wonder is the very secret existence of their founder and perfumer Jean Pierre Morreale.
After doing our own research we realized that it was remotely impossible to put together a real digital footprint for J.P Morreale and it feels like this is seemingly something that was done by the company on purpose. The only informations available online about this mysterious CEO are in the FAQ of Morreale’s website and inside a couple of articles published by Yahoo and Disrupt Magazine where the secretive businessman is described as protective over is roots, altruistic and generous. He is said to be a descendant of European nobility in a family dating back over a thousand years. Rather impressive, but we wanted to know more so we contacted Morreale Paris’ press office and had a conversation with the company’s creative director and right hand man of J.P Morreale, Maxime Rancon.
What can you tell us about Jean Pierre Morreale? Does he even exist?
Mr Morreale is very real, he’s a highly respected figure in America and all over Europe with a lot of connections. I know it seems to some people as he doesn’t exist, but this is only because that is the way he chooses to appear (or not appear) *laughs* at the moment. He’s an extremely proficient businessman who expresses his creative sensibility through Morreale Paris and he wishes in most cases to remain away from the public eye to protect his family, heritage and other business ventures from the public and the press.
How does he run a company as active as Morreale Paris without showing himself?
I didn’t say that he wasn’t showing himself. I’m saying that he prefers to stay away from the direct spotlight meaning the press, social medias etc… yet he is very active in running his businesses and I, for example, have daily contacts with him, so do many employees of the label. He’s not hiding and he’s very involved in everything that we do on the front and back ends with Morreale Paris, but he is also involved in many other ventures, some of them would probably surprise you.
How would you describe him? Can you tell us what he looks like? How old he is?
I would tell you that he’s a very put together man, with a high sense of style, class and respect. He’s very protective of his family, friends and partners and he’s known for his generosity and creative mindset. I won’t tell you what he looks like or even how old, or young he is and I don’t think these informations would be relevant at all. Maybe you’ll meet him one day, without even knowing who he is, unless he decides tell you. Maybe you actually met him already and just have no idea. I think this is pretty cool if you ask me.
Will he ever reveal himself to the world as the founder of Morreale Paris?
This decision belongs to Mr Morreale. But I can tell you that he might… or might not *laughs*
What is next for Morreale Paris?
We’re currently working on many exciting things for all our departments and we have some beautiful content coming your way in the coming weeks, we’re currently looking at making our products available in more countries and you will probably see our name partnering with some top tier events in the coming months, you should come by the way, maybe you’ll meet Mr Morreale *laughs*
Thank you very much for talking to me today, I know our time is running out but do you have any last comments before we finish?
Thank you for reaching out, it’s always a pleasure to fill the blanks, some outlets said that we are very secretive but that’s only because they don’t reach out or ask the right questions. Some of the magic always has to stay a mystery and that’s a part of our philosophy but it doesn’t mean we can’t have an interesting conversation right? I’ll finish by quoting one of the greatest scientists of all time to illustrate my point. And full disclosure, I just found that quote on google but I think it works great.
“The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science.” A. Einstein
