“Lego Masters” Gets a Season 3 Renewal from Fox

Lego has always felt like the little engine that could when it comes to overcoming apparently insurmountable odds, how else to explain the unending fascination with this junior architect game of connecting seemingly random pieces of wood or hard plastic into an endless variety of shapes and structures? Going strong since 1934, Lego has become one of the touchstones for most people’s childhoods and for many the compulsion to assemble has lasted well into adulthood. Enter Lego Masters which kicked off internationally in 2017 and features teams that compete to assemble the very best Lego structures. The success of the overseas version of the show inspired in 2020 a U.S. variant that, as revealed by our pals at The Hollywood Reporter today, is now getting a third season renewal courtesy of the benevolent folks at Fox.

Lego Masters U.S. version will see a new season, bringing back host (and executive producer) Will Arnett and a very loyal audience of fans and viewers.

In a press release announcing the renewal of Lego Masters, President of Alternative Entertainment and Specials for Fox Rob Wade said that the show “is more than just a fun, family-friendly show, it builds bridges between the generations. Thanks to our amazing and hilarious host, Will Arnett; our immensely talented crew; and our fantastic producing partners, the love of the Lego brand keeps growing. Last summer’s creations were even more spectacular than those in our debut season, and we will continue to raise the bar of creativity with season three.”

Host Will Arnett was short and to the point with his own statement about the renewal of Lego Masters, quipping “I’m excited to be a part of TV’s longest-running, unscripted, Danish toy building show.” Ah, there’s that famous Arnett deadpan humor we all love so much.

For those who keep an eye on television ratings, the renewal of Lego Masters felt inevitable: The sophomore season of the series which hit airwaves this past summer brought in an average 4.2 million watchers, good numbers indeed in this day and age for a network game show. Also attractive to the Fox Big Wheels no doubt was that the show placed as number one teen viewers and finished in the coveted top ten for adults 18-34 and 18-49.

Congratulations to the Lego Masters crew on the third season pickup which is scheduled to air on Fox in 2022!
