Narcos latest season drops… but it looks like being the last!

Narcos has taken Netflix by storm over the past few years, and fans can enjoy Season 3 on the popular TV streaming platform, which was released earlier this month.

The story – which centres around drug traffickers in Mexico – has made for compelling viewing, but don’t expect it to feature on the 2022 TV roster.

If anything, the third season wrapped up some of the loose ends of the show nicely, and it seemed like a natural conclusion.

The original Narcos series was also a three-season affair, and it brought the franchise up to the mid-1990s with the rise and the fall of the infamous Colombian cartel (Cali cartel).

And when asked whether there are likely to be more Narcos series in the future, co-creator Carlo Bernard was rather unequivocal with his answer.

He said: “There aren’t any plans, honestly, this is the sort of the end of the ride, for now at least.

“There’s nothing in the works, but unfortunately the drug trade isn’t going anywhere so obviously the possibility of other iterations exist.

“For now, this is it… we kind of felt like we were telling a cohesive story… so it felt like a nice place to wrap it up with season three in Mexico.”

But Narcos’ success isn’t just limited to the small screen. It has been a huge hit, and it has expanded its influence into other walks of life, and video game fans can play Rise of the Cartels, which is a brutal turn-based action strategy game.

Netflix has even opened up an online shop offering merchandise from the hit show, which includes everything from t-shirts, and anime-inspired figurines to alarm clocks. And if you are a casino enthusiast, you can have a go on the popular slot, which has been developed by leading software publisher NetEnt. When it comes to online gambling in Australia, you will be able to find plenty of NetEnt games to try out, including Narcos.

While it may appear to be the end of the line for the TV show, you can still recreate some of the special scenes by playing the casino game.

The Narcos team, meanwhile, have been working tirelessly on bringing out other projects.

Bernard and executive producer Eric Newman are currently collaborating on a six-episode limited series about Colombian drug queen, Griselda Blanco, with Sofia Vergara, who played Gloria in Modern Family, taking the lead role.

So, for those who are looking to get a TV fix to fill the void with the end of Narcos, they shouldn’t be too disappointed.

Narcos has been a pleasure for the fans, and while the curtain is coming down, the memories of the show remain priceless.
