Who Will Win the 19th Series of Strictly Come Dancing?

Strictly Come Dancing has been a massive success since it was launched in 2004. From Natasha Kaplinsky and Brendan Cole’s triumph in the first series to Bill Bailey and Oti Mabuse winning the 18th series, some of our favourite stars take part have taken part in this dancing competition.

The current series is the 19th to date, with Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman again hosting it. It started with 15 couples on 18 September and is building up to a grand finale on 18 December, but who is likely to win it?

What Is the Current Betting?

A look at the latest Strictly Come Dancing betting odds shows us that Rose Ayling-Ellis is leading the way following a string of consistent performances. Next in the list is Rhys Stephenson, who picked up 40 points in the last show thanks to a terrific Charleston with partner Nancy Xu. With a number of shows already completed, many viewers will have their own thoughts about Strictly and their own favourites and thoughts on who might win by now.

If we look further down the odds, we can see that Tilly Ramsay is the rank outsider. The daughter of chef Gordon Ramsay finished in second-last place in week eight, after dancing the Quickstep with professional partner Nikita Kuzmin. The second-longest odds can be found on Dan Walker, who scored 29 in the eighth week and could be in danger of elimination in the next show, having been surprised to reach the halfway stage in the series.

The Story of the 19th Series So Far

The first celebrity to be eliminated this year was Nina Wadia, followed by Katie McGlynn, while Robert Webb was forced to leave due to health issues. At the time of writing, the latest celeb to be removed was Sara Davies, who was the seventh dancer to leave the show despite having topped the leaderboard in the fourth week thanks to a great Tango.

This leaves just seven couples left in the running for the 2021 Strictly Come Dancing crown. Among them, baker John Whaite continues with Johannes Radebe in the show’s first-ever all-male team. The rest of the contestants include CBBC presenter Rhys Stephenson, EastEnders actress Rose Ayling-Ellis, chef Tilly Ramsay, Tom Fletcher from McFly and presenters Dan Walker and AJ Odudu.

What Happens Next?

One of the great things about Strictly Come Dancing is that it can throw up all sorts of major surprises along the way to the final. It is possible that one of the favourites gets eliminated soon, or that one of the outsiders turns in a strong performance that sees their chances of winning the whole thing increase.

Week nine is billed as a musicals week, with Max Harwood & The Feeling listed as the musical guests to play Out of the Darkness (A Place Where We Belong) from the musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie that Harwood has been starring in. Songs from Cabaret and Wicked will also be featured this week.

The unpredictability of Strictly should ensure that it continues to capture the public’s imagination, and the 19th series still has a long way to run before we will know who the outright winner is going to be.
