“Bones” and “NCIS” Actor Heath Freeman Passes Away at 41

We here at Vents woke up to a shock with this one…

Respected character actor Heath Freeman – who plied his craft lovingly in standout performances in shows such as NCIS and Bones – has passed away at the ridiculously young age of 41. At press time, there was no cause given for this stalwart thespian’s untimely death, but no matter: Whether he had departed at 41 or 141, Freeman’s passing has left a gaping chasm in the entertainment industry and has no doubt come as totally devastating news for family, friends and fans of this incredibly diverse talent.

“We are truly devastated at the loss of our beloved Heath Freeman,” the actor/writer/director’s team said in a statement this morning to The Hollywood Reporter. “A brilliant human being with an intense and soulful spirit, he leaves us with an indelible imprint in our hearts. His life was filled with deep loyalty, affection, and generosity towards his family and friends, and an extraordinary zest for life. He was extremely proud of his recent film work and was very excited for the next chapter in his career. His remarkable legacy as a son, brother, uncle, friend, extraordinarily gifted actor and producer, consummate cook, and man with the most infectious and spectacular laugh will live on forever. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved him.”

Reactions to the passing of Freeman – who was a consummate journeyman character actor who featured in such popular series as The Closer, Without a Trace and Spartacus: Blood and Sand – were immediate from his colleagues. Model and actress Shanna Moakler took to Twitter to share her loss: “Heartbroken to hear of the loss of my dear friend Heath Freeman, talented actor, director, producer, outstanding chef and a solid friend.”

Longtime Madonna guitarist Monte Pittman also shared his own thoughts on the passing of his friend, saying that “I’m just hearing the devastating news that my friend Heath Freeman is gone. I’m stunned, saddened, heartbroken and in a numb state of disbelief. Celebrate him by watching all of his achievements (in film and on television).

Studying acting at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and The University of Texas at Austin, Freeman came storming out of the Lone Star State with high-profile acting gigs on ER and Tru Calling. The zenith for this talented star no doubt hit when he produced, wrote and acted in the 2010 film Skateland, a real passion project if ever there were one.

We extend our condolences to the loved ones of Heath Freeman; he will be missed.
